Unless Moore really gets it I think Jones will take over with Moore backing him. 2013 is an issue until the season starts but I feel the QB situation will be less muddled for 2014. (at least I hope so)

My biggest fear, honestly is that Arndt wins the job, or Moore/Jones don't truly distance themselves from each other.

That would mean that next year, we have the same "who is the QB?" discussion.

South Alabama will one of the best, if not the best, defense in the conference this season, so I'd say the window is opening right now.

I guess any team with a new coach has to be optimistic so 2014.
I know Idaho can't compete our last bowl victory was 2009 so long ago.

UL-Monroe FBS 1994 bowl record 0-1
UL-Louisiana FBS bowl record 2-0
WKU FBS 2009 bowl record 0-1
Arkansas ST FBS 1992 bowl record 1-2
Troy FBS 2002 bowl record 2-3
Idaho FBS 1997 bowl record 2-0
NMSU bowl record 2-0-1

ADD the five most recent teams to move up and its wide open going forward.

Idaho went FBS in 1997? Man, I thought it was WAY earlier than that.

They were always FBS until the Big Sky moved down so 1997 is when Idaho moved back up.

2014 the title will run through Louisiana, we will be Senior laden and poised for a chance at running the table.

After 2014 is a crapshoot. We will be very talented but more than likely replacing an entire staff and Broadway.

I'll admit I don't know a lot about TXST these days so tell me what your strengths are and why you think you will match up so favorably in the SBC in 2014.

This isn't the same Texas St that played in the Southland and struggled. Recruiting has improved ten fold and we brought it JUCO and transfer players to get up to speed faster. Hopefully, it all gels by 2014 or 2015. FBS football is awesome and so is recruiting in the Sun Belt. I've seen USA has been pulling fantastic recruiting classes as well. I'm sure App St and GaSo will do the same. Just imagine the triple option with even bigger and stronger linemen and faster running backs.

I do expect the recruiting to skyrocket with the move to FBS. A lot of talent in Georgia that was going elsewhere hoping for a chance to shine on a bigger stage will be more inclined to stay closer to home. Although App recruits very heavily in Georgia too so expect that to get interesting as well.

You were great on the radio Wednesday, btw. I think your predictions and acceptable positive vs negative o/u wins scenarios (3-6 games) was RIGHT ON.

I'm gonna be optimistic and predict USA wins 6 this year and is at least in the running for a bowl invite. If they only win 4, I'll still consider this season a success too.

Normally I would take this opportunity slam Panama, slam GaState, and slam that monocled limey guy too.

Buuuut, when new coaches seem to catch lightning in a bottle, it's always in YEAR TWO of their tenures. It could happen.

Really? {there, I've put another "l" in) Are you feeling guilty for your past disdain of Georgia St.? They won't win a single game in the SBC this year and maybe one in 2014.

Thanks. I wouldn't like three wins, but I could accept them as progress as long as the Jags were competitive in most of the rest. I really think four or five wins is where they should end up and six would put me over the moon(pie).

RE: What's your window to compete for a title or bowl bid?
if arndt can be successful in fran's offense, i can see TXST narrowly upsetting 1 of the Sun Belt's five established programs this season. We were alot more competitive last year than anyone expected. I can see us playing most of our opponents close again. Obviously the Sun Belt is a better conference than the WAC, so I only really 'expect' a 5 or 6 win season this year with 2 or 3 conf W's..

I think we can finish top 4 in 2014 and that we'll be legitmate title contenders 2015 on.

optimism. :D

Not sure it will get fantastic. Believe biggest thing will be more qualified reserves and back ups.
