NCAA taking a look at Ole Miss
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball...ecruitment

Quote:The NCAA has interviewed Mississippi State freshman Chris Jones concerning Ole Miss' recruitment of the five-star defensive end, a source with direct knowledge of the process told CBSSports.com.

The specific nature of the interview is unknown. Ole Miss and Mississippi State are the only campuses Jones visited during the recruiting process, according to several national recruiting sites.

Looks like the NCAA are back in town with their hand out, or they won't go away. SEC is always cash rich.

This is the second story in the last year. A former player who dad set him up in business has been paying a players grandma $25 bucks an hour to sweep at the same time he was laying off his welders.

An SEC school cheating? I refuse to accept that.

SEC schools don't cheat. The rules don't apply to them, so technically it's not cheating. Pretty easy eh?

So if Ole Miss broke the rules, is it Tulsa or Ohio that gets put on probation?

Saint Mary's got nailed already so I'm going to say Florida Gulf coast will be the choice.

Wow. How bad was it at Alabama that Ole Miss would get slammed?

Quickest way to garner an NCAA visit is to upset the status quo in success on the court/field or in recruiting.

Ole Miss came ROARING to the front of the pack this past Nat'l Signing Day

I guess Tennessee and Kentucky are on deck, then?
(Boston College better keep their noses clean, too!)

It's the SEC. They'll get off with whatever they see fit to punish themselves.

But seriously, this seems like a total "nothing to see here" story. Ole Miss under Freeze has been an easy target due to his successful recruiting. Everyone suspects the worst, but I don't think there's much to this story at all.

Exactly what happened to SMU, circa 1982.

The Big Boys got mad.

That and the university president was helping give out envelopes full of cash that had the school letterhead on it. Hard to feel sorry for the pony express. You guys were throwing it in people's faces.

Nobody does it like Texas. I'm an Okie by birth, and we used to shake our heads at Texas politics. Talk about a constant dick measuring contest. LOL. Never dull though, I'll give you that.

RE: NCAA taking a look at Ole Miss
The thing is, I've seen Freeze in action he's a frickin' rock star. Just an amazing personality with an incredible memory for the details of the lives of the kids on his team. My son's best friend played for him at state and he loved Freeze. A friend was driving for a campus tour with a recruit and Freeze. The kid's cell phone rang and he silenced it. Freeze asked if it was ___ calling (the player's girlfriend, a juco hoops player). The player said yes and Freeze said call her back and give me the phone. He quizzes her about how her game the night before had gone, asked about another player on the team who was from a high school in Tennessee and had played for a friend of his, asked about their offensive and defensive schemes, etc. Told her about his time coaching girls basketball. They talked for 15 minutes. My friend said he had done tours for every sport at ASU and rarely saw a coach sell a kid they were recruiting as hard as Freeze worked that guy's girlfriend.

Hugh has the "it" factor. That may not get him past Bama but the mid-pack schools in the SEC won't have an easy time with Ole Miss as long as he is around.
