We'll take what we can get, but I would love to have an excuse to go to Charelston as many times as possible. Montgomery and Little Rock.......meh.

I didn't think a new game could get worse than Little Rock. I guess I was wrong. This game sounds horrible. Another MAC vs Sun Belt matchup in Alabama. I would rather have one less tie in.
As someone who works in Little Rock let me say... take a hike.

This Montgomery Bowl is terrible, Just terrible. Charleston would be 100x better. I hope this is just wishful thinking coming out of the camp of the bowl organizers. Both the Sun Belt and MAC would be better off signing as many secondary bowl agreements as possible then starting another bowl in Alabama. I don't know if any of this is even seriously being considered at all by Steinbrecher or Benson, but C'Mon...

Putting a bowl in Montgomery is about as appealing as a bowl game in Winston Salem, Knoxville, Jackson, Omaha, or any other mid-sized city in the area.

But App played the FCS title game in Chattanooga and that was fun. I'd rather travel to Charleston, very easy sell for the wife, but it is still football and tailgating, beats a kick in the pants.

Here is why this worries me. ESPN is trying to launch this game and we know the MAC and and Sun Belt love ESPN and would do anything to get exposure from them. I find the timing to be very interesting given that word just got out about a game in Charleston being looked at by NBC Sports. ESPN wants to keep as much of a lock on the bowl games as possible and that could mean destinations suffer as a result. I really hope this one doesn't play out.

Nothing personal man but based on what I have seen on the MAC boards reception for a game in Little Rock was luke warm at best so I am not the minority on this one. Charleston sounds very appealing and I think most of us northerners are looking for the best destinations possible for any new games the league locks in to.

Anything to move away from ESPN I'm all for, they are ruining college football.

People just don't know about Little Rock. Great restaurants and a downtown that has really exploded recently plus a presidential library.

I've been to Little Rock once, it was alright(but it was only a daytrip like six years ago), I'd definitely go there if MT was bowling there. I won't take anything away from Little Rock, but I don't it's some great insult to say Charleston, given an adequate venue, is a more attractive bowl destination.

Did you ever accidentally see an Omaha Nighthawks UFL game? The locals actually packed out Rosenblatt for every game. 03-wink

It is just too far from the Western schools to expect any of the "regular" fan base to be able to attend.

ArkStFan - I assume this will replace the Rice Bowl that was to be in Little Rock? Is this a done deal?

I thought the "Legends Bowl" was going to be the one in Montgomery?

The AAC has 2 lined up so far. CUSA has one so far with the potential for another. So there will be some bowl interaction between the P5 & G5. Now the SBC will likely not have a P5 bowl match-up.

AAC isn't P5 anymore.

Very familiar with Little Rock and Charleston. Charleston and South Carolina would win by almost any criteria you want to use. And I know you have heard before but Little Rock is not a sports town. If it isn't pig, it isn't sports.

I don't know why some keep trying to compare the two or act as if it is an either or (I don't think either is going to happen) proposition. The point is the LR is not a bad destination for spending a few days to watch your team play despite what some seem to suggest. It would be for the western teams primarily and it beats any bowl location in the Rustbelt or northeast.

RE: Legends Bowl - MAC vs Sun Belt - Charleston, South Carolina
Charleston has been my favorite SoCon destination for road games for years. Usually make it a mini vacation with great golf, great restaurants, and neat beaches and some cool out of the way places to visit. The stadium size might be an issue, but I would make the trip in a heartbeat if App played in a bowl there. I already have my plans finalized for the final visit to Citadel game in October.
