did acc get beef bowl in 2014 agenset cusa.
help with news

your reading skills are poor. the acc will play the AAC in the st pete bowl guaranteed in 2014 and 2016 and in the other years the acc backs up both the aac and cusa.

The acc is also the primary backup to the Birmingham bowl likely AAC vs SEC.

RE: Beef O Brady bowl deal about done
The odds of the ACC playing in the BOBB more than twice is very unlikely. I doubt CUSA and the AAC will not enough have bowl teams the four years the ACC is backup. I see the ACC in Birmingham as a backup more often since the Birmingham Bowl will probably be near the bottom of the SEC and they may not have enough teams due to having multiple ACCESS bowl teams. Be curious to see the Independence Bowl picks for the other side. Wonder if the SEC will sign-up for both or just Birmingham? I have a feeling MWC may hoping for this bowl for the other side to get a P5.

Nothing official but it appears
BOBB - AAC vs ACC 2 years / CUSA 4 years
Birmingham SEC vs AAC with ACC backing up if a team is not available. More than likely the SEC.

The only concern will be, does the ACC have enough teams? Assume 10 teams out of 15 are available.

For example
Worst Case Scneario 10 Teams are available (Least Likely)
2014 - ACC Sends a Team to Playoffs
2nd team to Orange vs B10
3rd team to Capital One vs SEC
4th team to Champs vs B12
5th -8th team to Belk, Gator/Music, Pinstripe & Sun
9th team to Detroit vs B10
10th Team to highest paying bowl Probably Independence ACC does not play in AAC bowls.

Best Case 10 teams available (Most likely)
Orange - Top Team vs SEC or ND
Champs vs B12
4-6 Belk, Gator/Music, Pinstripe & Sun
7 - 10 Independence, Detroit, BOBB, Military (two AAC games.)

Definitely think its the Birmingham Bowl will be AAC vs. SEC with the very last SEC pick.

Its interesting that the ACC has the taken the approach of only signing 9 bowl games and just agreeing to provide backups in St. Pete and Birmingham. Its a very sensible plan by John Swofford instead of coming up short in multiple games.

The SEC with the consistent high level that conference performs at is probably feels pressure to sign both the Independence and Birmingham games for a nice even 10 bowls (though multiple CFP games are a given).

Sun Belt won't be in mix. If CUSA can't supply a team, an ACC team will be chosen.

2014 AAC vs ACC
2015 AAC vs CUSA (ACC back up)
2016 AAC vs ACC
2017 AAC vs CUSA (ACC back up)
2018 AAC vs CUSA (ACC back up)
2019 AAC vs CUSA (ACC back up)

Is this correct? I haven't seen anything reported and on the C-USA board they are saying:

2013-CUSA vs American
2014-CUSA vs ACC
2015-CUSA vs (Likely the American)
2016-CUSA vs ACC

Hahaha. Totally false. AAC is the anchor. Greg Auman was the one who broke the sharing agreement a few weeks ago and he said AAC would be the anchor. I asked him about it recently and he said that was still true.

That CUSA poster was just confused.

AAC anchors 4/2 split with CUSA and ACC.

With the AAC vs ACC this bowl has upgraded itself. Maybe they can finally move the game across the bay to Ray Jay? The ACC always draws well there. 05-stirthepot

Why? This tie is cost-free for the ACC, it will be a marginal school with a 6-6 record or somesuch that gets a free week in sunny St. Pete and picks up a few extra bucks for the conference.

It's not like that ACC team would otherwise be going to the Cotton Bowl ... 07-coffee3

If you pay attention to just about everyone on this forum, the BOBB is just about universally despised. I've been a lone voice trying to point out the positives of the BOBB. Everyone seems to hate the date, payout, and especially the baseball venue. That's why. 07-coffee3

I really enjoyed the St. Pete bowl (got a free magicjack)...the USF fans were nice...the staff was friendly...easy to get in and out...great weather.

I just wish we had won.

90% probable. It's not official, but it would be a very big upset for anyone but the American to get the Birmingham bowl spot against the SEC.

Quote:and the acc in two bowls.
100% definite. (Unless the ACC+ND is short bowl teams--they need at least 10 to fill their St Pete spot, more if they have a 2nd CFP team or a team in the Cap One Bowl.)

Quote:and who will we play in the bowl we start,

There will be some other bowls signed. The ACC has made its moves, now things might start happening. Or maybe everyone might sit around twiddling their thumbs for a while--the bowls don't want G5 teams, the conferences aren't crazy about the turdtastic bowls left available.

Could the Miami bowl be where the ACC team is going the other four years they're not in St Pete? Beef bowl AAC vs ACC twice CUSA four times. Maimi Bowl AAC vs ACC four times and maybe BYU twice?

I am pretty sure the ACC is done based on their news release. I am assuming there is a logical reason for having the 2 years guaranteed. Like maybe it has to do with the years they have a better shot of landing in the Capital One Bowl or soemthing. So they have 9 tie ins for 4 years and 10 tie ins for 2 of the years. The Miami bowl has to be against the Mountain West at this point. No one else seems to have anything left to offer. The ACC and Big 10 are done. Big 12 and SEC seem to be pretty much done and the PAC 12 only has their #8 left which in most years won't be filled.

Hard to say if that's right or wrong. The Pac-12 has only had 12 members since the 2011 season. They have played just two full football seasons as a 12 member league. They placed 7 teams in bowls in year #1 and 8 teams in year #2. That would tend to indicate they will be filling the slot 50% of the time, but realistically---who knows? The track record is way too short to generate any statistically relevant numbers.
