He tweeted that he didn't feel well last night. So he will most likely be out 3-5 weeks. Who is up? Lafonte? Is he healthy?

So our top QB will be out 3-5 weeks and won't get time against the powder puff part of the schedule... Great.
I hope he gets better.

With Birdsong out, JMU officially has no quarterback who has played quarterback in a college football game. Unless you count Dae'Quan.

According to various medical journals, one cause of appendicitis can be a perforation in the appendix. Unless there is severe bleeding, an otherwise healthy patient such as Roethlisberger is often released within 24 hours of surgery and has a relatively short recovery time.

Big Ben was playing within a 9 days of his appendectomy

If he's out 5 weeks it means we miss him for Central CT State and Akron -- we'd likely be 1-1 after those, anyway. 9/14 is St. Francis, which we'll win, anyway.

3-5 weeks is worst case scenario. It's still not good news, but 5 weeks is a bit much.

So, we need to get him on HGH then?

My memory is a bit fuzzy on Lafonte's background, but I believe he never played a down. Seems to me he was a practice squad QB and then switched to Running Back for playing time. Although I don't know if he ever played in a game as a running back.

RE: Birdsong out
Our medical staff/trainers have a way of making these things last for weeks longer than ever expected. A young healthy guy like Birdsong should not be out more than 2 weeks.

RE: Birdsong out
As long as the appendix did not rupture, he should be fine in two weeks. Not full football contact fine but fully healed inside. I had mine out 30+ years ago and was fully recovered in three weeks. Today, they go in laproscopically so the inscission is very small and the procedure is minimally invasive.

We are 25 days away from the home opener. Michael should be practicing the week after that game. I would expect him to start against St. Francis but because it is St. Francis, MM will likely hold him out until UNCC.

The real issue is the missed practice time to start the season and missed game time against cream puff competition. Basically, Michael is going to have one game and three weeks of practice before starting the CAA schedule. Not what you want if you are the coaching staff.

Lets hope LT is healthy and can play QB at the college level.

Let's not forget about Lukas O'Connor. Although I haven't heard anything about him since we picked him up. Hopefully we hear who is taking snaps at QB soon.
