If the stadium was approved we would've had to acquire the land after the fact for additional cost. Acquiring the land beforehand will make the project more feasible whenever we're ready to move forward. The Alasgasco property on the other side of I-65 is important as well as it can serve as a primary parking area for future games.

As an fyi, Hardy DID NOT want to sell this property and made sure UAB paid a premium for making them move. They honestly didn't care whether the property was for a stadium or for a UAB waste dump, they just flat out didn't want to move. But I'm glad they are remaining in the city of birmingham so that everyone wins.

I thought they were initially glad to move when it looked like they would be employed in the stadium construction; but maybe not so much now that stadium groundbreaking continues to be only a UAB FANtasy.

Hardy would have had to bid for their portion like everyone else. If not some people would be doing SERIOUS jail time. They were promised nothing I assure you.

And there would be some "service" aspects of any construction job that would not go out on bid. Maybe that's Hardy's "in".

What would they service? If they don't have the job another HVAC contractor won't let them within 100 yards of the project.

MB I'm sure Laws have been broken in the past. As much as some of these state projects are scrutinized by multiple entities its pretty difficult to get away with it these days. That prison thing is a pretty good deterent.

Well it's a good thing that the State of Alabama has solved the whole crime thing.

I never said they had solved it. I can only speak for my field of expertise.

Well then it is great that your area of expertise is free and clear of fraud and graft.
