RE: GameDay in DeKalb discussed.....
Not really sure how on earth they would get every property owner in that residential area to sell. Seems a bit farfetched, unless your Jerry Jones building a stadium in Arlington, I don't see DeKalb or the property owners tearing down that whole area. Plus that is a lot of real estate, not sure the area population is large enough to support THAT much retail space. Seems much more likely that they add more retail space along Lincoln HWY. I was somewhat hoping that area where they built the new police station was going to be retail though, but I guess it gives parents a sense of safety with a police station right next to campus.

Where are college kids supposed to light old Christmas trees on fire? Throw couches from small, third story, under-insulated apartments? Go and drink for $5 bucks a cup, $2 bucks if you are chick? Where can they listen to Dave Matthews? See naked Rugby players? Turn cars sideways so they are stuck between houses?
Where, damn it? Where?!?

Hmm...Just GoogleEarth the area....more homes there than I realized...maybe just work on the exposed Lincoln Hwy area...
Fun Fact: Google Earth shot is now fairly recent, as it shows the CPC & you can also see the "movie lot" area being renovated......

I didn't see anything spelled out specifically.
Wouldn't be surprised if NIU and DeKalb officials want the boarded up houses gone...then use up that space for visual improvement.
I am not a fan of eminent domain but I understand why it is used some times.

I'm not going to get my hopes up yet, but these are good signs. Especially because it didn't take very long for them to start implementing these ideas. The problems must be obvious.
