I just noticed on Facebook that the athletic department is selling $3 tickets to the CCSU game, if anyone needs any extras.

Are we having any problems selling tickets?

I mean I had no intention of going to this game and driving the 7 hours down but ... for $3 ... why not?

This is part of a "30 for 30" promotion that JMU is doing. They will be posting giveaways, discounts, trivia questions, etc every day until the first football game.

I just got mine...It put me in Section 1 which is a student section...curious.

I just hope it actually gets butts in the seats. I wonder how many tix are available for the promotion?

I'm guessing they are trying to make up for what I assume will be a lack of CCSU fans. I can't imagine they even sold 1/10th of their visitors ticket allocation.

I'm sure it has to do with returned tickets from the other team. Either way I had not planned on going myself... but It's hard to argue with the price. Bought 6.

You probably got section 7 but it read something like 1:7:A:1,2

I am disappointed to see that they would sell seats in Section 1. I wonder if thats an error or if they have gotten rid of that section as a student section. I would think the first game would be the highest attended game for students with all the freshmen wanting to get their first look at JMU football.

Bought 4. Wasn't going to come. Guess I am now. I'll be back in VA 4 out of the next 5 weekends. My car and wallet are going to kill me for all the driving/gas. WOOF.

Nevermind, my ticket said section 7 in the email. Looks like it's probably the returned CCSU tix.

Is there a listing/time schedule of upcoming #dukes30for30 promotion items? $3 tickets is a steal so I'm hoping they will only get better as the season gets closer. My productivity is going in the tank if I start refreshing the page every 20 mins for the next month.

My understanding of the CAA ticket policy is, home teams are asked to give a percentage of the seating capacity of the stadium to the visiting CAA team (5%), not sure if this would apply for OOC games for JMU. (25,000 X 5% =1,250 tickets to CAA teams). CAA procedures allow the visiting team to return unused tickets to the home team no later than 5 days before the game day. If the CAA visiting team wants to give the tickets back early, it's at their discretion. Again not sure what JMU's agreement is with this OOC game(s).

An example of an OOC for ODU: ECU gave ODU 5,000 tickets. This is part of the compensation portion of the contract. Another part of this contract allowed ODU to replaced the Citadel and the Citadel did not receive a buy out from ECU. ODU is to receive a lump sum for payment from ECU and ODU is then to pay the Citadel when they to come to SB Ballard. Each OCC scheduled game is much different than conference games.

I could be wrong, but I simply see this as what it is, a promotional kick off to jump start folks into thinking JMU football for the next 30 days. I can't imagine they were really thinking this would have some huge impact on the ticket sales, it was only 30 minutes in duration. I'll bet it was more intended to start some buzz.

As it is I am now more interested in what the next 29 days will bring, so it's worked here anyway.

Legacy, any way you can tell us how many seats this sold?

Saw this mentioned on Facebook, thought about possibly taking advantage, then remembered who we were playing and decided it still wasn't worth it.

I got sucked in. In fact, I think my post on FB netted a sale of about 12 tickets amongst my friends ... all of whom probably were not going to attend ... now we all turned it into a reunion weekend. Not a bad marketing move JMU ... and we're all going for the tailgate, friendship and fun ... I'd say about 25% of it will be because of the JMU game. So yes, we will go to the game, but if it's a blowout in the 3rd quarter, we may not be staying ...

3-4 years ago I would have completely destroyed anyone that posted the above. But ... what can ya do haha.

We will be there at kickoff and be loud, and hell, maybe stay the whole game. We WILL be there. Prior to today, none of us would have been.

Ordinarily, I would not be thrilled we're doing this. However, in light of last years attendance drop off, I feel we need to do anything and everything to pack the house this year. In a way, we may be auditioning for a conference that might be on the fence about us. Suffering another year of dropped attendance would not look good, so better to be safe ( and maybe not reap all the dollars) than be sorry.

August gameday? Yes, please.
