OT: Movie Night at LaValle Stadium (Stony Brook)
So I live about 5 miles away from Stony Brook's campus. Anyway, last night they had movie night. Pretty cool idea: once a year they let local families, students, professors, anyone sit on the actual football field and watch a kids movie on the jumbotron. Last night it was "Wreck It Ralph."

It was really well done, they had the football coaches meeting people at the gate, a tent with giveaways, they were signing up people for football season tickets. It was free but the concessions were open. Between the new season ticket sales, concessions, and merchandise, they probably did pretty well, and I'm sure made some young kids fans while they were at it. Of course the absolutely beautiful weather probably helped! It was nice to see students, professors, and the local community all enjoying the evening. Probably around 2-3 thousand people there.

Best part was instead of previews, they had a 5 minute commercial on how Stony Brook was moving up to the big time this year: CAA Football :)

Does JMU do anything like this? It would probably be a nice way to get the HBurg community involved and create some young fans for the future. Maybe have a line to meet Duke Dog, etc.

I totally agree, this would be a nice community outreach project for JMU and would also net them $$$ most likely. I've also heard the idea of a concert and love that idea as well.

That is cool. JMU is doing a 30 for 30 promotion to kick start the new foozball season. Quirky prizes and the like. Not quite the same, but something I guess.
