very interesting. remember when folks on here kept saying pellom was going to start over Austin N. and he would be better than him? if he starts over Austin it wont be long term. Nichols has skills that this guy doesn't.

also, way to much talk about Thad Young. im not sure how playing in the bluff is considered giving back to the city. also, if you didn't play for the Tigers...I don't too much want to hear about you, just saying.

If Pellom ends up not as good as hoped --- was anything mentioned regarding Woodson's play and/or weight?

Yeah. Jason obviously gained a friendship with TY when Jason was the preps guy. He seemed defensive about TY.

I don't think people hate TY for not coming to Memphis, it's just more of a "meh" about TY now and Jason seems to believe folks should be fawning over him.

TY is a case in point about leaving the city and not having a q-score in your city anymore.

Yet you harbor resentment towards a guy for the decision he made as a 17 year old kid over a half decade ago.

It is obvious that Jason Smith is more concerned with being friends with the guys he covers than being a good reporter. He gets defensive about Adonis Thomas, Antonio Barton, Thad Young and many others. Say what you want about Dan Wolken, but he will tell you how it is, good or bad. Smith is unable to report the truth if it paints a guy he likes in a bad light.

What a joke. So because the guy doesn't have bad things to say about these players, he's a bad reporter? Do you measure a beat writer's quality by the amount of times he has trashed a player who made a decision that went against your team? What an awful metric.

no your wrong about that. I just don't care to hear about players who were not tigers. no hate, no resentment. also, if all I had to worry about was thad young's college choice....well, my life would be darn near perfect. I hope he makes a billion dollars.
