My god, this is still going? I get the countering sides of this argument but what I don't get is why the folks arguing against the Cajuns are being so snide and rude about it? Why are you so personally involved in whether or not The Cajuns call themselves Louisiana?

If it really was as big of a deal as you say and if there really was some legal issue with it.....something would have already happened to stop it.

Big difference, as in most cases, the "state" school is not the flagship. If a state has both a "University of State" and a "State State University", like "North Carolina" and "NC State" or "Florida" and "Florida State", the former is almost uniformly the flagship. So nobody is going to think of Texas State as the flagship if there is a University of Texas.

I do denie this. There is not one news article that states that UL is the flagship of the UL system.

Then you are either being deceptive or you are naive. What other reason for trying to call yourself "Louisiana" is there other than to try and fool others into thinking you are a flagship? There is no other reason. It's why you are doing it.

You're kidding, right? I only had to go back two posts by pro-Cajun writers to find them calling those who argue against them "ranters", "haters", and "hypocrites", and yet it is my side that is "snide and rude"? Good Lord.

I have not read 15 pages and I'm banged up very early for a Friday night, but if Lafayette is marketing themself as Louisiana, why wouldn't Tech and Monroe follow suit? I'm assuming LSU doesnt care and if there isn't a state mandate. WE had tons of problems till recently to become the state official flagship, even though it was obvious.

Honestly, why do you care so much? How many posts have you made in this thread that have basically said the exact same thing?

They can call their F'n school whatever the hell they like. If you have issue with their school doing that as well then that is where your issue is but you are directly calling these people deceptive. That is just outright ref'ntarded. They are just fans. Get a grip.

This thread should just be locked already, it is the worst thread I have ever seen on this forum. It literally has no purpose at all except for all of you to just insult each other.

Congrats on the nice facilities. And in future threads on this board regarding the Ragin' Cajuns if the issue of the school's name comes up to potentially derail a thread, as it has in this one, warnings may be issued, especially if the same posters are involved. A page was sufficient to establish that there was no satisfactory solution or agreement to disagree forthcoming and 10 more after that just sheer torture to the average reader.
