South Alabama football article
I am in Kabul and so I read the Stars and Stripes daily. Today I open to the College Football section and read "South Alabama takes off the training wheels". Yeah! I got to read all about a football program that has never won a significant game and how it has increased revenue and interest, all because they are joining the revamped Sun Belt conference. Same article here:

AP South Alabama football article

There was even a graphic listing the current and new schools, their records last year, etc., including those joining in '14 (App St, Ga Southern). And here I thought no one cared about Sun Belt football!

Hmmm, I wonder if I'll read in articles about CAA football in the Stars and Stripes? No.

Yes, perhaps a bit unpleasant, but still true. As for Stars and Stripes, I don't think anyone would argue that FBS schools, regardless of conference, get more pub. But I bet that every other conference at the FBS level gets the same or more coverage than the Slumbelt. I simply have no interest in that hole whatsoever.

And of course, stay safe. Without trying to be political, it seems that as a whole America has forgotten we still have men and women serving over there, except for the families and friends of them. I am proud to know we have some Dukes in service.

I have no interest in the Sun Belt if we have other FBS options. If it's our only FBS option, then by all means we should accept the invite. It is still a huge step up from FCS.
