For a significant portion of our fanbase, we simply don't care about playing Missouri now. We have a keen in-state rivalry with KSU that has only picked up in intensity since the realignment change. If the Big 12 remains viable we'll be primarily focused on our conference mates, and if it does not we'll be looking at establishing bonds in a new home.
Meanwhile over in Columbia, Missouri is about to dive into year 2 of being in the SEC. I'd imagine their fanbase is a lot more focused on improving their standing in their new home than they are about playing KU in the non-conference schedule.
Even if one were to subscribe to the snit theory, I think that while every day that passes could reduce those hurt feelings, it also reduces any passion (on both sides) for resuming the series.
I think a home and home series would be much better than the KC game.
The Arrowhead venue hurt the series. The fact that a school changes a conference for a better deal should not be a personal thing. If KU feels they can better the program by scheduling another school, That's cool. The real case for a bad KU attitude towards Mizzou, in my opinion, is the BB series which was electric. I think it will all settle down in a few years. I hope the Jayhawks end up in the B1G someday. Great fit. I bet the Big XII schools left behind will feel the same way about KU. Price of doing what's best for you. Best wishes this year.
While the Arrowhead series had some positives, I do think that both sides would probably prefer to have games on their home turf. While it was good for the KC metro, certainly the local merchants in Lawrence and Columbia would rather have games in their towns. Good luck in the SEC in year 2 - now that the initial novelty isn't the primary storyline, I suspect you'll start the process of building new rivalries in earnest.
You know as soon as Missouri gets used to the SEC East, they will move us to the West and it will all start again... I believe KU is at least the third most desirable school in the Big XII. Academics, awesome national BB brand, and workable geographics for any new conference. We were both 10-0 six years ago when we met at the end of the year. KU will be back.
At some point Mizzou will move, but if the Tigers focus of near rivals like UT, UK and Vandy then moving won't have an impact.

I guess it depends on who the SEC expands with as well.
