RE: 7/27 - Pics from DeKalbia
the one thing i like about all the contrasting aspects of huskie stadium is that they all distinguish the various periods of growth that allowed that portion to be built. its like a time capsule of the history of huskie stadium. i am too young, but have seen the pictures when there was only a west side stands....then the east side was built up....then the field turf replaced the astroturf, then the north wood bleachers were condemned and eventually torn down, then the Yordon center was put in the north,then we were graced with the PigDog, and finally the IPF.

Each one of those represents a period of success in huskie football. that is the history of our program in front of our eyes.

BTW, i think that the IPF is fine aesthetically. not sure what people expected when trying to build an enclosure around another football field.

Some of you negative people may not remember broken wooden bleachers that used to grace the north end of the stadium. I think it flows together pretty too.

I shouldn't cast judgement until Im there live, you are right.

Have to agree on this one, lots better looking at fans across than a reminder of my small high school seats...If some want a more crowded feel, then maybe paint some fans on the walls
..and while we're at it, lets settle on a fan color for game day.. is it red? black? take a look at a Nebraska game (I've been to those), a sea of red...
Homeopener=Whiteout
Homecoming=Redout
Vs EMU=Pinkout
Vs WMU=Blackout

EIU fans will be wearing blue, white and black. We should all be wearing red unless its a black-out game.

Whelp its a whiteout game.

Maybe like the SF Wisconsin game athletics want some of the away fans to look like they are Huskie fans.

Also if EIU fans wear white or black to the game then they are dorks.

Huskiejohn, EIU fans have many shirts that are blue,gray,white and black and blue. I believe we should be wearing red whenever we can but if its a white-out, I shall buy another huskie shirt.

When you are a fan for the away team you can't wear any colors which your team shairs with the home team.

So for the Iowa and Purdue game this year NIU fans should wear red.
Vs a red/white team like Ball St or Miami black is better.

...but that is overthinking it as I do about NIU football!

Who says it's a "white-out" game? Our colors are CARDINAL & BLACK
I wear RED to all home games and whatever color I have to at away games. A whiteout? Yuck - no way.

The home opener versus Eastern Illinois on Saturday, Sept. 21 has been designated as the "White Out" game with the first 3,000 fans receiving white "Be Proud. Be NIU." T-shirts. Northern Illinois will raise its 2012 MAC Championship flag and after the game, the HASF tent will be the venue for the post-game "Oktoberfest," featuring a live band, food and more. The Sept. 21 game is also Band Day, Youth Football Day, Boy Scout Night and NIU Family Weekend with special ticket discounts for the latter three groups.

I know. What's up with that? I don't have any white shirts and won't buy one just for a white-out when that isn't one of our colors.

+1. A white-out is a silly idea.

Genuine EMU fans would be wearing green.....as much as everyone likes to rip on Eastern Michigan, it wasn't that long ago unfortunately when students on our own campus wore Illini crap rather than Huskie apparel. That was a disgusting sight.

I say the white out is leftover from Compher. It sounds like one of his ideas.

White is the color of surrendering. I saw we boycott the white out and just wear red.
