RE: Heinicke RE: MT
So what 3bylightning is saying is that because he has a chip on his shoulders that UTEP didn't pick him that we'll be crushed? If that's the case I guess it also means that when we play texas a and m that Showers will light up the scoreboard against them too and we'll win. Same story different schools.

ODU seems to have a knack for that.

Man, you guys have never watched a press conference, have you? Reporters have a way of asking questions to elicit a specific response, then take an off-handed comment and running with it as if it were serious.
I would bet anything that TH is not upset that he wasn't offered by MTSU any more than he is upset at any other school. If there is a real chip on his shoulder, it is going to be at the Georgia schools. I realize MTSU is only a stone's throw from GA, but of all the schools in the world that didn't offer TH, is MTSU really worth being upset over? He has no connection to them!

Everybody chill. To put this in perspective and provide more context here's the full blurb...
Old Dominion quarterback Taylor Heinicke, the 2012 Walter Payton Award recipient as the top player in FCS, said it still stings that MT recruited him but never offered a scholarship.
Heinicke, a native of Suwanee, Ga., was a high school teammate of MT starting running back Jordan Parker, and he hoped they would play together in college, either at MT or Old Dominion.
“Middle Tennessee recruited me, but didn’t offer me. So going in there to play them (in 2014) will be fun,” said Heinicke, who will be a senior when ODU joins C-USA next season. “(Parker) took a visit to ODU and liked it. But then when Middle Tennessee came into the picture, I knew our chances weren’t good.”

All these folks already obsessed with us and we haven't even played yet. No teams of your own to talk about?

UNCC and Middle Tenn you guys have to work this out, i understand we are an attractive target for a rival, but our fan base only has the patience to hate one of you at a time.
Please understand that we need sometime to care that we should hate you, as some of us still have tattoos, license plates, hood ornaments, trailer park mosaics, macaroni paintings (i got an A),avatars, collectible screen printed t shirts, and other memorabilia pronouncing our hatred for VCU.

Jason Johnson and Dwone Hicks almost single handedly beat Maryland in 2000. I actually liked old Jason Johnson. Competition is good.

But I will say this. We had a similar situation. We had a QB (Wes Counts) that signed with us during the end of our I-AA years. He was third or fourth on the depth chart as a freshman going into the last year as a I-AA school. We played up at Illinois early in the season where he either started or I think he came in after first three guys ahead of him got hurt and played well. He holds a lot of school records still a decade later.
By his senior season in 2001 he was the third rated passer in the nation behind Rex Grossman and David Carr while leading the nation in completion percentage. He would have had even bigger numbers if wasn't for our bone headed head coach who kept trying to insert a JUCO QB who was nothing more than an athlete.
Point is once TH has had some time to acclimate to the speed and differences of the game he may perform pretty well, and the fact he gets to a chance to get his feet wet this year will help him next year.
