Worst contracts in MLB
Read a fangraphs column ranking the five worst contracts and it had the usual suspects: Pujols, Hamilton, Howard, A-rod and Fielder. For this thread I'm more interested in the next level of bad contracts, the ones people don't usually talk about. I'll start with a few:

Ryan Zimmerman
2011- Played 101 games with a .798 OPS
2012- Played 145 games with an .824 OPS
2013- A pedestrian .784 OPS
Contract- Signed through 2019 at about $12 mil. Decent money, but a lot of years

Elvis Andrus
Has been terrible this season with a .592 OPS and 12 XBH.
Contract- Signed through 2022 at about $15 mil (starting in 2015). He has a vesting option for 2023

Mark Teixeira
Had a career low .807 OPS last season, after posting a previous career low of .835 in 2011. His OPS has declined in every season with the Yankees. He's now 33 and is out for the season after wrist surgery.
Contract- Signed through 2016 at $22.5 mil

Teixera is done. His contract will be almost as bad as A-Rod's.

Well, A-Rod's contract could start looking much better for the Yankees soon.

-Ethier could get there soon.
-Werth
-Bonilla

OMG you'll never believe what I just read on Sweet Spot: In 2008 when the Yankees signed Teixeira away from the angels, the latter received the Yankees first round pick as compensation. Who did the Angels take with that pick? A kid named Trout. It's amazing how often these deals will come back around. For instance, remember the 3 team trade between the Tigers, Yankees and Dbacks? For a few years it was believed the Yankees won the deal by getting Granderson. But do you guys remember who the Tigers got? Guys named Austin Jackson, Phil Coke and Max Scherzer. Sometimes it takes a few years to truly grade sports transactions.

the yankees won a title with teixeira. as a fan of a team who hasn't won a playoff series since 1996, i'll trade a mike trout for a world series. with the angels buffoonery spending, i wonder if trout gets to the world series

but that's interesting nonetheless
