Wrong on your part. You know what happens when you assume.COGS07-coffee305-nono

I was reading another schools message board and they were complaining that the local hometown bowl wasn't helping them. Bowl games aren't in the charity business and they won't help the local school unless they help themselves.

Bowls will consider the hometown team if
A) the bowl is played in a school-owned stadium or if
B) the bowl is owned-and-operated by the conference.

Other than that, you're on your own.

In my example, the bowl is not owned by the conference and the game is played in an NFL stadium with no ties to the local University.

The Bowls are experiencing the same kind of stratification that just occurred in BCS football. If you are a bowl with a G5 conference tie in, the perception is that you are a lesser bowl than those with two P5 tie ins. It is what it is.
