MWC to lose their Armed Forces Bowl tie in now? What's up?
From ESPN earlier this month: "The Mountain West Conference has agreed to tie-ins with six bowl games starting in 2014, sources said. The Mountain West's six bowl tie-ins are expected to be six-year deals from 2014-19.The Las Vegas Bowl will get the first selection from the Mountain West, while the Poinsettia Bowl in San Diego will get the second selection, sources said. The Hawaii, Armed Forces in Fort Worth, Texas, and New Mexico bowls will share the third, fourth and fifth selections. The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise, Idaho, will get the league's sixth selection, sources said. Despite a number of bowls changing conference affiliations after this season, the final year of the current four-year bowl cycle, the Mountain West retained all of its previous six tie-ins."
So why is their talk on the AAC board that the MWC will not play in the Armed Forces Bowl? The chatter over the AAC board is that the AAC #1 will be playing the Big 10 in that game now that the Liberty bowl is not an option. Anyone know what's up?

Well since the Aremed Forces has ties to Army and Navy, we may be looking elsewhere. The commissioner state that a 6th bowl is possible and likely in the SE. There may be some rotate of bowls there also.
Brian Murphy @murphsturph 2m
Thompson says 6th bowl game could rotate among 2 or 3 sites. And is likely to be in the Southeast.

It looks like the AAC is going to get the Armed Forces Bowl and it's B1G match-up and the rumors out of Florida have the AAC starting a bowl in Miami that could pit them against the PAC or B12. Plus CUSA is also trying to create a bowl in Florida too.
That means the sixth bowl will likely be playing rotation/back-up to the P5 against the AAC (in Miami & St Pete) or as opponent against the CUSA.
In the Miami bowl, the AAC will probably own the bowl along with ESPN; meaning their league will likely make the payoff for playing AND a portion of the TV revenue, while the opponent only gets a payout.
