ATHENS Georgia and Arizona State, two teams that have never played in football, have scheduled a home-and-home series for 2008 and 2009 according to an announcement by UGA Director of Athletics Damon Evans.
Georgia will travel to Tempe at Sun Devil Stadium on Sept. 20, 2008, while ASU will play at Sanford Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2009.
"We believe this is an attractive inter-sectional game against a team from another quality conference," said Evans. "We've never played ASU nor have we ever been to the Fiesta Bowl to this point so this will be a new opportunity for our fans to see another part of the country."
The last time Georgia played a Pac-10 team was 1987 vs. Oregon State in Athens, a 41-7 Bulldog victory.
"This is an intriguing matchup between institutions from major conferences," said ASU Director of Athletics Gene Smith. "The schools have never met in a football series, thus providing a very interesting game for the fans. This also gives our conference television partners two quality contests as inventory from which to choose."

Looking forward to the matchup, time and money permitting I may travel to Ga for the game. I have been longing for some SEC matchups for the Sun Devils now LSU and UGA are slated home at home, ASU is a seemingly improving squad so the timing could present a great OOC intersectional matchup, if the game were played today ASU would probably get trounced, as it is they should be able to compete home and away.

I don't understand what Damon Evans is doing. When you're in the SEC why schedule good OOC teams? I'd rather have some breathers.
