Well....now what? What are the realistic options.
What are the realistic options for AAC champ? Some ugly scenarios to consider

1) No bowl for champ. Simply place champ in best bowl available.
2) Vs. MWC champ
3) Aresco bowl in Miami, if this is still under consideration.
4) Birmingham Bowl
5) Military Bowl.
6) Independence Bowl?

Yep, that's it folks, unless there is something out there I am missing

#2 is out unless we become the Las Vegas bowl partner. I doubt that very much.

I'd go with either Aresco Bowl or tie the champ to nothing and either let the champ have the best of our signed bowls or the best bowl with an opening.

The fight for that Access Slot just got hotter...C-USA, MWC both cut off their noses to spit their face..the old BCS System was much better for the Non AQ...07-coffee3

You've got to game the scheduling as much as possible for that access slot. That much is certain.

Just thinking outside the box...it would be wise for the American & MWC to work as close as possible to separate themselves away from C-USA, MAC & Sunbelt.

I don't think that is true. I suspect the MWC would work with you. We aren't happy with the demotion of the Las Vegas bowl in the Pac lineup and think playing a #7 Pac team is worse than playing your 1/2.

The P5 has pretty much locked out the GoF...the two top leagues in the GoF need to do IMO the same to the other 3....it nasty but it is now the business...07-coffee3

I think you look at two bowls to be AAC and MWC. One in Orlando and one in Las Vegas. Assuming the champion comes from one of our two conferences most years for the access bowl the other champion gets to host against the other #2 which can be either the loser of the conference championship game or the second place team in the best division.

The other bowl hosts the #2 #3 game which insures you still have a reasonable match-up.

The Pac and Las Vegas would get our #3 team at worst.

That is the best bet for both leagues...as for a merger...travel would be a killer and really not needed...Aresco-(American) & Thompson-(MWC) just need to be creative...

I think we should try to work with the MWC....

This would be a better solution, but some schools (from each conference) would have to get left out of the merger.

The best case scenario is for the G5 schools to beat up on the P5 schools making as many of them ineligible as possible. I realize it's easier said then done.

I don't see the MWC sending a team to Florida. We pulled out of Liberty years ago due to the travel and lack of fans access.

I really think the MWC will stay in the west

What are some of these bowls going to do when they can't fill their signed conference slots? They'll have to hope conferences like ours go to their bowls. I would hope that if all of our teams in the non power have bowls to go to, as an act of solidarity don't go to those conference tie in bowls. With the playoff it's a real possibility some bowls are left without teams.

Its true the neither team is likely to travel the other direction which is why the bowl goes to the champion of the other league because they will send the most fans..... But Orlando with Disneyland or New Orleans is likely a better destination than Memphis. Especially if the 1/2 is placed on New Years Day.

RE: Well....now what? What are the realistic options.
The solution is clear: the MW and AAC need to work together in some capacity.

There is strength in unity.

I think a game between the two league champions and a bowl sharing arrangement would be the most prudent course of action - at least until the GO5 gets locked out anyway... It would essentially guarantee all MW and AAC members get access bowl payouts each year.

Time for the MW and the AAC to stop going toe-to-toe when they are equally powerful. Rather, it's best to just combine forces and accumulate more strength via economies of scale...

I'm in total agreement. However, I question if the MW would be willing to work with us after we tried to take some of its schools....

Agree with you on picking destination cities at this point. I think Hawaii as well as NO and Orlando. But we can meet in the middle with a MWC vs AAC in Ft Worth in the Armed Forces Bowl no?03-idea

The PAC has been very silent regarding to being part of the LV bowl. I'm not sure they may sign on now being a#7/8 spot.
