I like traditional also. However PSU looks like something a Junior High team would wear. Traditional as in the 1920s is a little plain.

I'm not so high on Alabama's, although I like them better than PSU. I would add UCLA to Notre Dame, Texas and Michigan.

I hope you mean UCLA basketball. Their football unis wouldn't even rate in the top half of the Pac-12.

I think a combination of the black helmet, gold top, and black bottom would look nice. However, Oregon has the best uniform combinations:

Only thing I don't like is the black parts underneath the arm pits. If they extended all the way down that would work but as is, I do not like.

Bevotex. This will rock the BB folks that know me as the Mizzou guy, but Texas has a drop dead awesome uniform, and the helment is second to none. My daughter was born in Abilene and is a Horn fan. I had to buy her a Colt McCoy jersey a while back for her birthday. That stung a bit...lol04-cheers

Eh, Michigan just stole Princeton's helmet design. I like PSU and ND. Well, when ND wears their real uniforms and not that monstrosity they donned last year. I definitely prefer traditional uniforms. But I also like the colors on Tulane.
Some of these Nike/Under Armour uniforms are monstrosities. I think the worst I've seen was the Notre Dame basketball leprechaun look. That was even worse than Maryland.
I disagree. Nothing's worse than the Maryland flag look... 03-banghead

I see your point.... If that were done on the gold tops with black (or is it dark blue) bottoms, that would look better. I would also make the facemask on the black helments gold.

I agree. UT's unis are classic, clean and unique. I also like WVU's uniforms and my RedRaider all-black or all-black with red shirt unis.

Those green and white Ohio unis are slick too.

This style of uniform was the best. Players are wearing too much these days and they look goofy. I miss the days where the jerseys were minimal and a player's image was based on his attitude.

These guys are trying too hard with all the colors and complex color schemes. They're trying to get noticed.

In my opinion, the guys in the top picture looked tough and they looked like they knew that they were tough. The guys in the bottom picture look like they are trying to look tough, but NOTHING screams weakness than trying to look tough.

I know this is a different sport, but the point is the same. Athletics have been over-commercialized. Basketball players wearing long shorts, leggings, under armor undershirts, jerseys, head bands, and wrist bands on top of special designer shoes, socks, and boxers (or whatever it is that they wear under all that) is just too much. It's all the result of HUGE marketing campaigns designed to invent useless accessories for sports, so that athletic clothing companies can sell suckers more junk. I realize that there's simply too much money behind it in the form of endorsements and TV commercials for it to stop, but it really, really needs to. Someone needs to stop wearing the goofy clown clothes and realize that they are lighter and cooler without it, and win a championship.

Obviously this rant has focused on basketball, but the same idea applies to football, albeit to a slightly lesser extent.

I agree. This new uni craze that Oregon/Nike started just seems to scream "we have no tradition"!

I love how sports talk pundits suggest a program needs these new uniform/helmet changes to attract top recruits...but last time I checked Ohio State, LSU, Bama, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, USC, Nebraska (on and on) have not made drastic changes to the uni and/or helmet. And they are recruiting just fine.

That is my only complaint about Mizzou in the SEC, is the new WAC uniform/helmet they rolled out last year. They should go back to the traditional "M".

I don't know if many of you guys follow uni-watch.com but it is amazing how much better the fan designs are than what Nike and Adidas actually put out.
I love this Marshall mock-up

Also, one of the best logos in all of sports, the Brewers' ball and glove logo, was fan designed.

RE: Best uniforms in college football
All this thread really proves is that fans of schools with really ugly uniforms will still vote for their own school: Anything Oregon has worn in the last decade?? seriously? Absolutely not. The Michigan (stolen) goofy striped helmet and pee yellow pants?? No. Maryland's past few years?? retch. Any of the three versions of WestVirginia posted above?? retch retch retch.

As far as Oklahoma - there's nothing wrong with it (at least it doesn't hurt to look at it) - but it is indistinguishable from Arkansas' uniform. Put "Razorbacks" on the jersey and it is the Arkansas uniform. It's also hardly any different than Alabama's. To be the best - shouldn't it be different from a dozen others?

I like:
the Florida blue shirt / orange helmet uniform
[Image: Bowling_Green_Florida_Football(4)_t607.JPG]

Iowa back a few years with the white shirts / black and yellow pants (looked like the 1970's Pittsburgh Steelers uniform)

Ohio State's white shirt / silver pants uniform
[Image: large_Santonio.jpg]

and the Auburn navy shirt / white pants uniform
[Image: auburn-football-3.jpg]
