RE: Nebraska Series Extended
As disapointing as this appears, when the Huskies win another MAC title this year and are at least in the conversation for an AQ bowl slot; any recruit that looks at this schedule and sees that NIU is playing Nebraska, Iowa, Arky and other AQ programs is going to be licking their chops to be playing teams of this calibre.

This may be hard to hear but getting a series like this with Nebraska is going to help recruiting. There is no doubt.

It'd be nice if someone would ask him his opinion on them changing the NU series before he had a chance to do anything about it.

I already did BM the moment this was posted. I pay for "premium" seats every year (in 2005 had 10 of them) and as time goes on I am not getting a "premium" return. I am not talking about the football team because they have exceeded my expectations, but the stadium experience and our athletic department. Last year we weren't even able to buy a program until the 3rd home game because nobody was going by selling them. The cost goes up but the supposed extra benefit of having "premium" seats is going away. I am to the point were I might just drop my seats and buy them at the door...it's not like I cant move down and sit where ever I want anyway.

Re: Nebraska Series Extended
I'm looking forward to the series. I was at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln last month on a business trip. I got to tour Memorial Stadium and run out through the players' tunnel onto the field to the N at the 50. Impressive stadium, and they just completed improvements to increase the seating capacity by adding more club seating/skyboxes.

They take their football very seriously in Nebraska. There's not much else to do there. On game days, they like to say that Memorial Stadium is the third largest city in Nebraska.

I don't think it's playing Nebraska people are upset about, I think it's how the we are getting boned. I was excited when Nebraska first got announced too, even at SF. I don't even know why Nebraska would accept this deal either, do their fans really want to see the Huskies every other year?

I do like that i have plenty of opportunity to road trip to lincoln. however, i do not blame madddawgz at all. I am in the school (no pun intended) of thought that if you do not like a product (In this case, the quality of opponents brought in), you speak with your money...or by pulling your money off the table. The team has to win over the fans with a quality experience, not the other way around.

Well it was a fact we all knew Nebraska had to get out of the SF game. Do I wish the outcome was better sure, but perhaps this may be a good deal for us without knowing the details. Ill wait for the new AD to get his hands on this if its not a good deal hell take care of it.

Why is that?

They just got four home games while having to commit to zero road games. They made out!

Our athletic department never ceases to amaze me when it comes to their scheduling ineptitude. I wonder if this makes us the first school to commit to a 4-game series with no home games involved.

Maybe there is some way this is good, but for now it's a real buzz kill after the "high" I got from the AD announcement.

Team just goes to the Orange Bowl and people are now talking about not renewing season tickets because of scheduling, no wonder we don't have much of a chance...

RE: Nebraska Series Extended
Perhaps already mentioned, but with the new schedule, that becomes their off week.

And with a 9 game league schedule, they would be foolish to give up a 5 million+ gross gate to play at SF. No idea why they did it originally, namely right before travelling to NW.

There's no way all four of those games happen. Nebraska's fans will be bitching up a storm with NIU fatigue. I predict at least two of those go away at some point in the future.

Can Frazier start tomorrow?

I don't think it's fair to blame Spears for this. He did not initiate the change. It was necessitated by the B1G schedule changes. It would have been nice if the contract were written so that we could pull in some money from this, but that's not the case. That's not Spears' fault.

Yes it is. Anyone that knows negotiating would have either agreed to a MUCH larger payout for these games or something else in return. Instead, Spears is a "Yes" man and just agreed to a 4 away game series with nothing in return. Unless two of the games have payouts of $900,000 or more, a series this long is horrible.

They would get paid more than 300K.

How, if you have 15,000 people at the game paying $20 a ticket on average, your total gate is only $300K. If you give a team $300K your only revenue is concessions and parking, add the expense of paying employees, there must be some other revenue I can't figure out that kicks in.

What the heck? Although they play @Nebraska first, so the 2nd game might get bought out. Anyway it's 12 years from now. Still, they get a 1-1?

It is obvious that nobody in your athletic deparment is trying to change the course of your scheduling. You just gave up two spots for leverage on home games that you cant get back.
