To commit to a 4-0 is just a stupid thing to do. I really hope the new AD had no role what so ever in this mess.

He didn't. He doesn't take over until August.

Is there anything to the fact that we just named a new AD but are a few weeks out from him starting? Seems like weird timing to make a change like this. Also, what do we get paid for the Nebraska away games?

You guys are clearly missing the point here. Big Ten has agreed to stop playing FCS teams, so this means we can't move down to FCS until after 2023!

This really leaves little room for Frazier to do his thing with scheduling. Who in athletics thought Huskie fans would want to travel to Nebraska every other year for eight years? One step forward, two steps back.

That is just sad. You're athletic department is really inept. Hopefully your new AD will bring some good, major changes to your football scheduling. Scheduling series like this will only show your fanbase that you don't care. Hopefully he has some good connections in place. I'm pretty sure that UT's AD has good connections throughout CFB, and that is part of the reason why we get good teams to coem to the Glass Bowl.

Ridiculous. Iowa and Nebraska every year now. What a horrible mistake.

Unfortunately it was all too obvious already, over the past decade. This is costing us big time in a long-term way. They won't be able to get our fanbase back out of the hole they've dug us into. We better be getting paid a lot for these so we can at least afford to play a real OOC team at home more than once every 15 freaking years.

Damnit, I'm really mad about this. NIU better be getting paid too much money to turn this down or else Christian Spears needs to jump off a cliff.

It feels almost like Nebraska looked at what they wanted and said "hey that NIU guy is just an interim, lean into him a little and he'll give in."

x100 if there was talk in B1G athletic department circles that an assistant in their world was likely to land here and might push back more on it.

What do we do, just roll over for everybody that wants to change their schedule with us? Do we get a buyout? Somebody needs to step up on this issue. NOW.

Can you just envision NIU and the Big 10 in a highstakes game of Go fish:

Big 10 school: Got any 6's?
NIU: Just 1, but I have got 3 4's
Big 10 school: Got annnyyy....4's?
NIU: Ugh I have 3 of them.

I am officially out of season tickets next season. Like midnightgoldandblue said NIU has sent a message over and over to its fans it does not care about the growth of the program or the size of the fanbase. Thus, there is no way in hell I am renewing season tickets next year. I'll always be a Huskie fan but there is not a single reason to purchase a season ticket anymore. I may decide to buy the Toledo game every other year , but other than that I'm done.

I don't even buy season tickets, I just get individual games. I end up going to most of them anyway, but sometimes have to miss 1 or 2. So no reason to buy a season ticket. We won't sell out any games so I can always walk up and get a ticket. When they show they want to schedule Division I teams at Huskie stadium the first month of the year, I'll revisit it.

With where I live and having a weird weekend work schedule, I only end up getting to 2 or 3 home games a year. I usually just pay the season ticket anyway, but those days are over. NIU has shown its deck on what it thinks is important and it certainly isn't growth of the athletic program. They have made a decision to prostitute as their source of income and that's fine, but Im certainly not going to be apart of that anymore.

How the hell did this get OK'D during the reign of an INTERIM athletic director? Did this agreement have to be made so soon? Couldn't it have waited until our real AD took over? Angry at Nebraska and angry at us. But unlike some people I will not give up my season tickets.

Trust me its not something I want to do, but I cant willingly contribute to this clu****f**k anymore. NIU values its fans as much as I value the ant on my kitchen counter. I also am never buying an away ticket from an NIU allotment. You had a potentially historic opportunity to regenerate fan interest and build a fanbase here. It is almost as if there is an organized effort to do the exact opposite and stop the momentum, how can some of these decisions be justified!?

Well that was quick, already not giving the new AD a chance to right the ship. He hasn't even started yet. The old regime will be gone soon. I really hope you eat your words.

RE: Nebraska Series Extended
I am all for giving the new AD a fair shake and I think he was a great hire. What I don't understand is how a big move like this gets made weeks before he starts and by the interim guy who didn't get the job. One would think all major decisions would be on hold until the new AD takes office. It's a little ridiculous that he is now tied moreso for upcoming seasons from a scheduling perspective since he took the job and not in a good way.

I agree and that concerns me a little bit. I highly doubt this was one interim person making a decision.

I understand whats happening, NIU sees the Big 10 scheduling slots fading quickly and wants to reserve their lump sum of money before they are gone, but in doing so you basically putting future NIU football teams under the bus and giving a middle finger to the fans that have suffered through over a decade of this. This will cost NIU big time down the road, with the competitiveness of the teams on the field and the fan support, I guarantee it.
