RE: EA Sports NCAA football franchise is dead
Question for all the gamers on this board. I am a fan of NCAA Football, but have no idea if EA is putting the best product on the market for this type of game. Question: If EA sports is not the best at putting together a football game, why not? What makes EA a bad choice? WHat are we missing in terms of game play and graphics that some other company might be able to provide?

EA half-asses a new iteration every year.

They don't do their factual research on schools -- getting various things wrong from flat out creating cheers that don't exist, getting mascots wrong, putting schools like ODU in a year early (no complaints!), and more.

2ksports would be the logical alternative because they have often competed with EA in the past, have performed better in terms of ratings and gameplay when in direct competition, and currently creates the NFL2k franchise, meaning they have a football gameplay engine already in existence.

This thing is a long way from being over. The NCAA still remains a defendant in this case. They have not yet settled but likely will to avoid getting destroyed by a single legal case.

Further, if this settlement represents that players image and likeness can't be used to profit, then what will this mean for conferences that have sold media rights to broadcast games on TV for millions of dollars? Fundamentally, an argument can be made that there is no difference to someone else profiting off the players on a video game vs profiting off them on TV.

This sucks. I haven't played Madden in YEARS because I always played the college version. At one time, I had every version of NCAA Football made. All of them. Most on Playstation platforms until I switched to the Xbox because it's what my wife owns.
I hate it, I really do but the idea of sharing wealth and everyone getting a turn has taken over.
