Another darn list
10 Worst Cities to Visit in the United States

1. Detroit, MI
2. St. Louis, MO
3. Reno, NV
4. Cleveland, OH
5. Chicago, IL
6. Camden, NJ
7. Memphis, TN
8. New Haven, CT
9. Stockton, CA
10. Oakland, CA

Quote:Not only is this Southern U.S. city murder on the spring allergies, its ranks second highest among U.S. cities when it comes to violent crime, gang activity, widespread poverty, and corruption by city officials. But regardless of the tragedy, tourists still flock to the birthplace of the blues, home to Elvis’ Graceland, the East Coast Music Festival, and the clubs and shops of Beale Street. Not to mention the languid and lush banks of the Mississippi River offer a 5-mile stretch of parks and outdoor recreation.

That's a great link with that blows away lots of misunderstood "facts."

That, plus the below link, which was referenced in the above article, is something that all Memphians should have bookmarked for reference.

http://www.colorado.edu/geography/class_...zation.PDF

The above is a PDF of a few pages from:
Cities in Civilization
Sir Peter Hall
1998

(Cities that changed the world......)
Athens
Florence
London
Vienna
Paris
Berlin
Manchester
Glasgow
Detroit
San Francisco
Tokyo
Los Angeles
Memphis
Rome
New York
Stockholm

RE: Another darn list
I spent a couple of weeks in Reno for work and really enjoyed it. I've also spent a couple of fun weekends in St. Louis. The unemployment rate and housing costs play no factor in my trip enjoyment.

And to think I've lived in 3 of those cities. I would argue about Memphis being on that list. It says VISIT, not live. Memphis should be in the TOP 10.
