I think we can all agree linemen win Championships. There is no way they can recruit top offensive linemen. A top 20 o-lineman will not be interested in diving at opposing defenders knees for 4 years. Especially if they have dreams of playing in the NFL. They will never land an elite WR corp, or pro-style running backs. A top tier RB will not want to go to GT as their career can be run into the ground with all the carries they would average. A prime example is Marcus Lattimore. Spurrier ran that poor kid into the ground making him tote the rock 30+ times a game. GT backs could possibly have as many carries on average even splitting the carries with a second or 3rd back. UGA's two studs both committed to Georgia with intentions to split the carries which will prolong their career and better their chances to stay fresh through school.
Defense is another story. Again falling on Paul's shoulders, however. It is his team and he is responsible for locating a coach that can lead that defense. It's obvious he knows nothing about it as they have been dismal on that side of the ball.
My point in all of this is, why would they go out and get a coach that further handcuffs their program? They already have a tough time landing the elite thugs that teams like Alabama, Tennessee, USCe, LSU, etc., are able to get with their joke requirements for becoming eligible. How Reuben Foster, was even accepted at Alabama, I will never know. That dude should not have been playing D1 football. Saban does his thing though.
Back on topic... Sometimes I venture off the path a little, lol. I don't understand how they even thought this would be a good idea. That system works perfectly at smaller schools like Georgia Southern, but the ACC isn't exactly elite and they will be lucky to finish with a .500 or better record year in and year out.
Time for a change Tech fans? Losing to UGA every year has to be getting old.
