I found a picture of McMurphy while he was tweeting that:

I guess the education at Miami is not as great as those radio ads claim to be.

He said the bowls for the American conference are still TDB. The question posed in the tweet is whether they regret the move and McMurphy answered no because of similar media rights and playing sports under one conference.

How are those MAC bowls looking? Champ vs Sun Belt?

Considering that the MAC was formed in the 1940's and the Big East/American (forgiving their ignorance on the name of the conference) and CUSA were formed in the 1990's is that really surprising?

The actual quote is: "That seven Mid-American Conference players are on the preseason watch list for the Maxwell Award means little in the big picture of the upcoming college football season."

Skip a joke line to context what was previously quoted: "Too, there could be 30 MAC players on the list and none of them would have a realistic shot of winning the Maxwell, which has been given to college football's most outstanding player every year since 1937."

Then skip three paragraphs and read: "More MAC players are on the Maxwell watch list than All-American (the old Big East) Conference and Conference USA players combined."

Followed immediately in the next paragraph by: "Again, it all means nothing come August 29. But to the MAC and the football programs that operate under the national radar in places like Muncie, Indiana and Athens, Ohio, the attention always means something."

It's a not so flattering comparison to everyone else when read in context.
