I think i read the same article you did.
Kiffin takes the cake, no doubt.

I'd say Kiffin, he's poison to everywhere he's been so far. Weis is close, Ferentz isn't bad, Beckman was good at Toledo and has had only one year at Illinois, and English has the toughest job of any FBS coach.

Heard Beckman speak at a coaches clinic in Louisville back in March.. He was an informative speaker as well as a nice and approachable guy.. So because of that I'd like to see him work his way off these types of list at some point lol

Beckman was essentially on the Penn State campus trying to steal Penn State players once sanctions were announced. Seeing him lose is great...

Yup. It was a shame O'Brien didn't hang another 3-4 scores on them last season. I'm sure the players would have under a more tactless coach.
My vote goes to the Lame. USC is going to walk right into more sanctions once he's left 'SC.

Huh? I think Ferentz is a good coach. Maybe a bit overrated but nowhere near the worst.

First off I refuse to believe ANYONE will ever be worse than Kevin Steele was

So were a lot of others if I remember correctly.

He's a tool but he did well at Tennessee, was a very good OC for Carroll, and has done decent as HC at SC in spite of sanctions. I don't like the guy but he doesn't belong on this list.

Iowa is not exactly the easiest place to win in the B1G, and yet he's taken them to multiple BCS bowls and had some very successful seasons.

RE: Worst coach in college football
It's Iffy Kiffy without a doubt. He has done well in places relying upon Daddy and Norm Chow and others. He is narcissistic, stirs up crap with other well established coaches, uses no discipline with the kids, and I'm surprised somebody hasn't really gone off on him when he runs his enormous mouth about things he makes up about other programs. His stint at Tennessee was short because he alienated almost everyone around him including the other coaches in the conference and did it quicker than any coach I can remember in my lifetime. Only Charlie Pell came close, but he was at least a decent coach, just not a great person to be around.

Yeah but he's been making $3.5 million a year for almost a decade now and is signed on till 2020. I said he was a good coach and am well aware of his record and situation in Iowa. He's still over paid.

Damn, I didn't know he made that much. Yeah you're right he's way overpaid.

At Ole Miss, he said he would have to be carried out of Oxford in a "pine box" and then the next day or a few days after, he took the Auburn job. Ole Miss fans correctly labeled him as "pine box" tommy.
When we hired him, Ole Miss and Auburn fans warned us about him and they were right. Tech fans also call him "to go box tommy".

It's a tougher call this season. Last year there were worthy candidates like John L. Smith and Ellis Johnson.

RE: Worst coach in college football
Ferentz was smart enough to have Brett Bielima, Joe Philbin, and Norm Parker on his staff when he first took over. His new assistants need to step it up if Ferentz is going to survive.
Iowa used to be way ahead of others in terms of strength and conditioning and developing average players into NFL players. Not so much lately.
Unfortunately if Ferentz is not developing NFL talent, he is not the most innovative coach to compensate. Every year he hints at going to a no huddle but never does and reverts back to his pro style offense. Pro style works for Nick Saban . It can work for ferentz again if he finds talent. If not, he better find himself an offensive guru to save his job.

Weis stumbled after a decent start at ND, and he needs to start showing improvement at KU, but I think that there's a bit of the reporter resentment of a prickly coach at play as well. Hell hath no fury like a reporter scorned.

Hey! Leave Lane alone! He is doing a great job at Southern Cal.
I hope he coaches there for another decade.
There is too much of this "what have you ever done for me lately" or this "whatever have you ever done in your spoiled, bratty, arrogant, entitled, juvenile, snarky, clueless, cheating life" stuff in college athletics.
Get off the guy's back and let him be all that he can ever be......
Give a guy a chance or fourteen, will ya?
