RE: MWC new bowl deals
definitely not what MWC fans were hoping with only 1 Pac 12 opponent- 5th non playoff Pac 12 team(actually down from before). Kraft Fight Hunger passed Las Vegas on the Pac 12 side.

RE: MWC new bowl deals
They kept the same bowls, but they also added more teams and the opponents aren't as good (New Mexico bowl no longer has Pac12 tie in). A downgrade from previous lineup.

Looks like the AAC could have more bowls against P5 than all other G5 conferences combined.

So really nothing has changed for us. Just losing the PAC for the NM bowl.

3 changes

1- losing the Pac for the NM Bowl
2- Las Vegas Bowl now with 1 spot lower for Pac 12. There will be years where Pac 12 can't fill this slot.
3- MWC has 2 extra teams, so maintaining is not nothing has changed

That's a significant loss though. You'll be playing CUSA now.

Half the bowls are vs CUSA (Hawaii, NM, and Armed Forces). I have to admit, I did not see the Armed Forces Bowl playing out that way. I thought for sure the AAC would have a tie to it. In fact, I thought the AAC would be its anchor conference.

MWC vs AAC is still very possible. I've still got my ticket in the "I Wuz Right" Sweepstakes.

Actually, the PAC only had a 3 year tie in. we played them once and don't know if they'll fulfill the spot this year.

Give the Mtn. credit for this much: at least their bowl situation is now clear/defined and fans can talk about known facts instead of speculation.

On the other hand, the known facts are not all that encouraging.

RE: MWC new bowl deals
Is this correct information?

For the 6 seasons starting 2014 and ending 2019:
MWC #1 vs. Pac #5 (or #6?) in Las Vegas
MWC #2 vs. Army/Navy/BYU in San Diego
MWC [#3-#4-#5] vs American or C-USA in Hawaii
MWC [#3-#4-#5] vs C-USA in Fort Worth
MWC [#3-#4-#5] vs C-USA in Albuquerque
MWC #6 vs MAC in Boise

Sounds like it. Hawaii gets an auto tie to their bowl if they have 7 or more wins and not going to an access bowl.

Yes, although nothing has really changed and although we were hopeful of getting a better lineup, we already knew it wasn't going to chance much.
The only bowl that matters is the Access Bowl (or playoff spot) for the MW champ. All other bowls have less precedence now.

Unless some agreements were dissolved, there are existing future Navy and Army ties to the Armed Forces Bowl. I believe Navy has a tie in 2013 and 2016. Army has a tie in 2014 and 2017. So, those two combined will serve as the MW opponent for three years of the 2014-2019 signing period. That would appear to mean CUSA would be the MW Armed Forces Bowl opponent in the other 3 years.

Quote:The expected conferences the Mountain West will face in its new bowl lineup:

"Expected conferences" sounds to me like "best guesses."

I'd be VERY surprised to see CUSA (UNT, Rice, UTSA, LT) in the Armed Forces Bowl.

With Navy tie ins (there's no way ANY bowl is going to dissolve a Navy tie in - (they are too national and bring too many fans), expect the AFB to be some kind of shared tie in betweeen MWC/CUSA/AAC.

Half a CUSA spot in the Hawaii, the other half is The American. alternate between half with CUSA and a third with CUSA. On average 42%. Or else it means either the American or CUSA, which would really be "The American if the deal can be worked out, CUSA as a backup if it can't".

CUSA in the Armed Forces Bowl. I'll take that even if its only half the time with the existing Service Academy tie-ins.

Yup. That would be a very nice hold for CUSA. If true, I'll be forced to eat crow on this one. I was certain the AAC would grab this bowl.
