In 2021 & 2022. That's a heck of a long time from now. I would assume Beamer won't be coaching at that point.

Great news for both schools and for fans of Eastern football.

That series should have never died.

Great news for WVU...this and if the Maryland series continues would give them two traditional rivalry games.

I don't know if the Maryland series will survive or not. It could end up a casualty of Maryland's move to the B1G. The last scheduled game is 2017, and there are currently no plans to renew beyond that date at present. There have been some talks, but little came out of them due to all the uncertainty about the Terp's move...

I'm glad to see the Black Diamond Trophy come up for grabs again. WVU and VT have more in common than most, and the close proximity made the rivalry something special. I'm looking forward to seeing them play again, Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise...

I'm still interested in hearing if the ECU-WVU series is going to happen in some form or if it's completely done.

RE: WVU - VT agree to home & home
ECU is still on WVU's upcoming football schedule from 2015-2018. Whether or not they'll be played is another matter. The games in 2013-2014 were bought out so WVU could schedule Alabama in the 2014 Kickoff Classic. This year's game against Georgia State is another result of that cancellation. Something like that could still happen with the upcoming games as well...

I hope not. Business decisions don't always please fans, most of whom want things to get settled and stay that way...

I'd really be surprised if ECU/WVU play going forward. Just WVU only having 3 OOC games, it'd be tough to have both a home and home with Maryland and ECU. Even if both were where 1 was home and 1 was away- the years with 5 conference road games would make 6 away games.

Great. VT can have UMD's spot on the WVU schedule.

Hmm. Does VT-WVU become the functional equivalent of an in-state rivalry game in the ACC's eyes? FSU-UF, GT-UGA, Clemson-SC, Louisville-Kentucky, and now VT-WVU? (Pitt-Penn State, maybe?)

Ok, so the wvu/vt football series is coming back. The bball series is back and from what I understand it may be a semi regular or annual game. Now that were friends again, can we please work out some football games in DC? That has such potential to be huge.

If I were ECU, I'd offer to move a game or two of the wvu series to Charlotte. That would be much harder for the powers that be in Morgantown to drop.

I can't speak for our administration but I think they might be open to considering that, but that would depend on how many home games out of the series ECU would be looking at losing and the financial split from a neutral site game. I think ECU should continue playing some games in Charlotte and right now we only have 1 more scheduled so there would be an opening in the future to do it.

I don't see anything displacing the VT-UVa end-of-season rivalry game.

Premature statement to make, don't you think? It's only 2 games for FB.

I think the way things went down between Pitt, Syracuse, WVU, and then Notre Dame, UMD was going to have to work real hard to fill up and maintain its non-conference schedule for football if they had remained in the ACC. It's enough that autonomy was lost with Notre Dame, and given to the conference to share, but the sort of fight over OOC-fare like WVU, with Pitt and Syracuse no longer on the table? Hello body-bag games and more Crab Bowl...

Agree..but things are being done to seemingly put aside old problems. The DC games are perfect for both schools especially since neither will be playing UMD at that point.
