RE: Women's Basketball Recruiting
Looks like Daziaa Powell, who signed but later backed out of ODU and signed with UNC when Karen Barefoot separated from ODU, is now being released on a medical redshirt. Wonder what happened?

https://twitter.com/HoopDreamsAAU/status...6847699968

I have to think ODU is no longer interested as Coach Nikki appears to have elevated our recruiting profile, perhaps past Daziaa's level.

Just based on history, I’m guessing she went to real classes and UNC ain’t having none of that and kicked her out!

She wasn’t good enough to play at UNC.

I doubt she’d hook up again with ODU, but i’d give her a shot if it were up to me. And if ODU True Blue wishes to slander the young lady’s academic abilities, he/she should give some attribution. That’s uncalled for and a pretty cheap shot, if it’s a guess.

Relax, True Blue was taking a shot at UNC and their fake degree program.

Daziaa is headed to UNCW to play for Karen. Had an inkling this was a likely outcome as soon as I read about Daziaa's departure from UNC. Wish her well.

Seems that Barefoot is moving forward with transfers from ODU and other schools. Wish Barefoot the best, but transfers don’t seem to be a long-term answer.

She could always recruit, she just couldn't win.

I don't see that changing either . . . at least the winning part.

And McCray is already recruiting at a higher level than Barefoot ever did. So, maybe she isn't even that great at that. Maybe it was the name on the jerseys that was doing a lot of the work.

KB was a very passionate basketball coach. She loved her players and the game. She did the best she could. It just wasn't good enough. I wish her well at UNCW.

Now, who's ready for Nov 2nd ? I can't wait to see the New Look ODU women's basketball team.

PS. What's the word on Makayla ?

Yes, she is and I am very excited about that. It appears that Coach McCray knows her stuff.
As far as recruiting, McCray came from being the top assistant on National Champion University of South Carolina’s staff and Barefoot had a much lower-profile bio coming in. I’m sure that dissimilarity alone has much to do with their relative recruiting success.

GO LADY MONARCHS!!!

I have to admit, I loved KB. She was a ball of energy and excitement. I always though that she was just a recruit away from turning the program around. I wish her only the best. But my heart will always be a Monarch and Old Dominion is part of my soul. Yes, I'm ready for the new era of Basketball with Coach Nikk. She is a winner and ODU will be guided by the best and I can't wait for this year and many years to come with Coach. I feel confident that ODU will regain their National prominence in Women's Basketball.

Old Dominion Hail

Don’t know what days they played, but the team returned either last night or this morning. And I have heard she is redshirting

I was thinking Sosa, but I think all eligibility is used up.
