Thought for the day:

"Resolved: That these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent States, that they are absolved from all allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain is, and ought to be, totally dissolved."

-- Resolution of independence, moved by Richard Henry Lee of Virginia and adopted by the Continental Congress on this day (July 2) in 1776. The resolution was incorprorated into the concluding paragraph of the Declaration of Independence adopted two days later.

Am spending the 4th (it's the 4th here already) in Australia, surrounded by Brits here for the Lions rugby tour (look it up on ESPN scrum.com if you're not familiar).

The Brits have been quite gracious in wishing us a happy 4th. The Aussies actually love rubbing the Brits' noses in it a bit on this day.

Hey me too! Wallabies - Lions has been an epic test so far.

Lions dominated the third and deciding test on Saturday night. Despite giving up 13 unanswered points just before and after the half, won going away, 41-16.
