Robins Center Renovations
[Image: LAWELVNDAFYLXGX.20130627180221.jpg]

The University of Richmond recently hired construction firm Barton Malow to renovate the 41-year-old Robins Center, heralded as one the finest arenas of its kind since it opened in 1972. Barton Malow, consistently ranked among the Top 25 Sports Builders in the nation, has significant, related experience, including construction of John Paul Jones Arena at the University of Virginia and renovations at Richmond International Raceway.

A two-week project to remove all of the Robins Center seats is well underway. A majority of the seats will be shipped off-site to be refurbished and later returned and re-installed in the arena. Luxury seats and premium seats will be added as part of the new look and feel to the main arena, bringing fans closer to the action.

On the concourse, construction is underway to renovate all bathroom locations and add women’s restrooms. Installation is scheduled to begin shortly on two elevators located on the northeast and northwest sides of the building, which will allow fans to easily access the hospitality areas in each of the four corners of the Robins Center.

Robins Center Adding Four 15 x 32 Panasonic Video Boards

UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. - The University of Richmond’s Athletic Department has announced that Panasonic will provide new video boards as part of the current $17 million Robins Center renovation project. Once installed, the displays will be the largest of any Atlantic 10 arena and will also be one of the largest displays of any on-campus arena in the ACC or Big East.

The four Panasonic LED video boards, each measuring approximately 15 feet high by 32 feet wide, will be installed with one board located in each of the four corner hospitality areas. Each video display will be just three feet narrower and four feet shorter than the video display at Robins Stadium, the home of Spider football.

"We are excited to work with Panasonic to enhance the overall fan experience in the new Robins Center," Richmond Athletic Director Keith Gill said. "The new LED displays will really add to the excitement to the games."
