For Tech, the biggest winners are the fans. As a guy who lives on the East Coast, I can't tell you the number of late nights/early mornings I had to stay up listening to us play basketball and sometimes even football in San Jose, Fresno, or Hawaii. Hawaii games sometimes wouldn't start until 12-1am EST. To be able to watch/listen to a game that's only an hour behind is HUGE.

If there doesn't become a rivalry out of this game... there's something wrong with the fans of both schools 03-razz

I totally agree...

WKU as well was a winner in my book...
We reunite with teams we used to be in
the original Sun Belt conference with. ODU,
UNCC and UAB. Get back in conference with our
closest rival MTSU.
LA tech WKU great women's and Men's Basketball old rivals.
Join former sbc teams UNT FAU FIU
Add close by Marshall.
And of course USM and the Texas schools..

WKU fans are glad to be a part of the new C-USA and we are are
winners. WKU along with Tech and MTSU have been trying to get
in CUSA for long time.

RE: LaTech & UTSA are winners in conference realignment
3 things that makes us grateful to be in CUSA

(1) A great conference with great schools and destinations for away games; also reuniting with other former SBC rivals, too.

(2) A regional CUSA West Division which include 3 Texas-based schools, La Tech and very do-able Game Day travel possibilities at all other division rivalry's locales. We've never had that at North Texas at the level we wanted it.

(3) It gets our DFW/Denton Metroplex based school a presence in the largest city in Texas--Houston! This will energize our large number of UNT alums who live in that part of Texas and it won't hurt our Gulf Coast of Texas recruiting efforts, too.

It's a win-win for all of us I think most would agree. We Newbies Have To Produce: When UNT returns to our NCAA Division 1 successful eras of the 50's, 60's, 70's and more recent.......4 bowl game trips last decade, then we feel we will have been the positive contributing force we know CUSA officials are expecting from us, minimum; of course, they are expecting such contributions from all of us CUSA newbie' schools, right?04-cheers

We were close to CUSA admission back in 2004(?) but had a pink elephant of a football stadium which we learned later was actually the main deal-breaker; well, we no longer have that pink elephant as our football stadium.

GMG!

It alternates between funny and irritating. This is one of the rare occasions that our stalker hasn't appeared on a thread with our school's name in the title.

My impression (don't know this for a fact) is that the #12 slot came down to UNT or UTEP, and that the nod went to UTEP on the basis of being a more fully-developed program, even though C-USA wasn't really seeking members in the Mtn. Time Zone. I was slightly in favor of UNT because that (D/FW) is a prime recruiting area for Tulane and lots of alums in the region. El Paso, obviously, is neither. But UTEP has been good for C-USA and I have been impressed with their people when I've met them. I think they will definitely be a force in C-USA basketball so long as Floyd is HC. Now that Memphis is gone, UTEP may be *the* force in MBB for the league. I have thought for 15 years that UAB would claim that mantle but it just hasn't happened.
