3 things that makes us grateful to be in CUSA
(1) A great conference with great schools and destinations for away games; also reuniting with other former SBC rivals, too.
(2) A regional CUSA West Division which include 3 Texas-based schools, La Tech and very do-able Game Day travel possibilities at all other division rivalry's locales. We've never had that at North Texas at the level we wanted it.
(3) It gets our DFW/Denton Metroplex based school a presence in the largest city in Texas--Houston! This will energize our large number of UNT alums who live in that part of Texas and it won't hurt our Gulf Coast of Texas recruiting efforts, too.
It's a win-win for all of us I think most would agree. We Newbies Have To Produce: When UNT returns to our NCAA Division 1 successful eras of the 50's, 60's, 70's and more recent.......4 bowl game trips last decade, then we feel we will have been the positive contributing force we know CUSA officials are expecting from us, minimum; of course, they are expecting such contributions from all of us CUSA newbie' schools, right?
We were close to CUSA admission back in 2004(?) but had a pink elephant of a football stadium which we learned later was actually the main deal-breaker; well, we no longer have that pink elephant as our football stadium.
GMG!
