New EMU AD
Lyke is under contract for five years at $245,000 per year plus incentives based on championship and bowl appearances, academics, attendance and more.

I had no idea that MAC AD's made that kind of money, not bad.k

The man has his work cutout for himself in order to earn the bonuses. That is unless the attendance bonus starts at 5,000 per football game.

He might still have his work cut out for him even at 5,000 per game. Then again, if EMU cooks the announced attendance numbers like we do, he might be just fine.

I never really thought we cooked the attendance numbers. I always try to guess attendance before it is announced, and am usually in the ballpark.

Of course, if I am basing my guesstimate on overinflated numbers to begin with...... But the announced attendance versus stadium capacity seems reasonable to me.

Always thought we underestimate.

"The man"?

"His" name is Heather Lyke, formerly Senior Associate AD at Ohio State.

Has very solid resume-background.

Sounds like a good catch for EMU. OSU to EMU - talk about a cultural adjustment.

More like culture shock. She? Must not have made a visit to campus during a game.

Gragg went to Tulsa, Diles Case Western, Gene Smith Iowa State. There was one between Smith and Diles I can't recall.

Amazing. Wonder what it is about EMU athletics that looks good on a resume?

Well, Case Western (D-III) isn't exactly a step up, and I can't remember what happened to one between Smith and Diles - don't think he moved up.

But, Eastern has historically done well in the "Olympic" or underwear sports. It's just the most visible, spectator-popular ones (football, men's hoops) that have struggled.

I think it may be more of a case of EMU being such a crappy job that ADs there go job hunting quickly. Some have moved up, some down, but all have moved on after a fairly short stay.

Perhaps because once they see that the situation in Ypsi is pretty much unfixable over the long run, they bolt.

Take the money and run. Hey, I should write a song about that.

There is something to say for that. Get the title on your resume, they go find a better job.
