The four choices available weren't very good, but FWIW I didn't vote for that one.

Geez, that logo is going to be all over USM football this year. Might as well make hockey style jerseys and put that logo on the front of the shirt.
I have a feeling that the athletic departments don't care about which helmet gets the most vote from fans. FAU had us vote on a helmet (they all sucked, as all but one had a logo on both sides, most had a logo on one side and the player's number on the other. Didn't USM have something like this recently?). So if FAU is trying to push that number on one side so much to make 4 prototypes, why would they listen to the fans knowing that we don't like it? Same goes for USM's helmets. Fans are getting an overload of that logo, but the program wants it, so why should they care?

When the new AD comes in we will probably get a logo overhaul.

I get the feeling that it is somewhat opposite to this. Given a series of bad options, most Southern Miss fans seem to be choosing to go with the familiar logo rather than try something new. You have to remember that we got sued over the last good logo we put out there.

Supposedly, we are working on one, but we won't see even a hint of it until the consulting group we hired submits their report. At that point, we will probably turn to a professional group to get a good logo out there. Probably two years or so from now would be my guess.

The only place that logo will be that it hasn't been the last 20 years almost is midfield.

funny...interim prez...interim ad...interim logo....at least we're consistent...

I'm probably in the minority here, but I don't think they look too bad.

If they bold the letters and improve the logo around the edges, it would look good. As is, it sucks.

That's all it needs really. I like it.

I know colors are sacrosanct, but it's got to be a tough task to make any "gold" helmet - and really jersey to a lesser extent - at USM all that eye-catching given the shade of yellow-gold. I've always been grateful UAB went with old-gold as the accent to green. In fact, my high school alma mater was kelly-blue/yellow-gold since the founding in the 70s and they decided to officially ditch the gold for white in 2000 because it was just too damn hard to use the yellow without verging on a 70s/80s throwback look.

Ultimately, the school's in limbo until they can afford to hire someone for a rebranding, but those helmets wouldn't look that bad with a flaked (i.e., "sparkly") base of a subtler shade...not that they had that option. If I were in marketing, I'd really rather have Tennessee's "big-orange" to work with than USM's yellow-gold...and I never thought I'd say that.

Frankly I don't see any other way for it to settle except with USM paying for a rebranding. That certainly won't happen until the AD situation is firmed up plus, and correct me if I'm wrong, my understanding was that the money's not there right now to hire someone and pay for the rollout. At least they are being smart in trying to create attractive new designs with the old IP that they can actually license.
