The Heights section of today's Chronicle includes a story about Justise Winslow who has been named to the USA Basketball Under 19 World Championship Team roster. Winslow, 17, will be a senior at St. Johns this fall. According to the story, Winslow is being recruited by a host of universities, including Duke, Stanford, Arizona, Baylor, Michigan, North Carolina, and UH, but not Rice. Why not Rice?

One of those is not like the others.

We may very well be recruiting him/showing interest, but we are so irrelevant in the MBB scene that it may not have been mentioned.

We offered him a while back. He has offers from everybody, he's likely culled his list to just those above mentioned.

Probably because Rice isn't staffed to recruit locally. The latest bench hire is for someone with California experience/connections.
