Maybe Gonzaga can open a branch campus 1000 miles to the East. They would be a perfect fit.

Man you must subconsciously really hate Wichita State. Not only did you leave them off your list you have edited away their spot entirely. Should be

67) Wichita State (7)
68) St Mary's (12)
69) Detroit (6)

That ranking was before their final four run so I would expect them to move up in the rankings this year. Also please tell me you wouldn't really consider St. Mary's who plays in a 3,500 seat high school gym over Wichita State.

Due to the way the list is made Wichita State is actually in the 66th spot. The "1" spot is occupied by Team, Games, and Avg. Rating. Meaning the first team listed is in the 2nd spot.

Wichita State slipped my mind, I don't really think they have much of a chance to get into the Big East anyway. When have they ever been mentioned as an expansion candidate in the national media? Their best bet to move on up is to apply for the vacant spot in the American or Mountain West.

I don't think Gonzaga is a serious candidate, but they get mentioned frequently, so I included them. They'd likely want a partner in their timezone and St. Mary's is the best available, even if their facilities aren't up to par.

NP. Many here are opposed to Wichita even though they are the closest travel partner to Creighton. It was kind of funny not only did you not mention them but you gave away their spot.05-nono

The need for a travel partner is overblown, and Wichita is by no means easy to get to so it does not really HELP anyone but Wichita.

The Best travel partner for Creighton is going to be a school in a Midwestern city that is a good airline hub.

Only in the world of the P5 so they fly between travel partners.

Saint Louis makes a much better travel partner.

No a four hour drive or an hour flight?

Right - The Big East is the big leagues not a bus league. Checking the Omaha airport website, they have direct service from Chicago (DePaul), Washington (GU), New York (SJU) and Newark (SHU). With Delta service through Detroit, Omaha is probably a one stop flight from any other city in the league.

Southwest flies to Omaha, Chicago, Newark, NYC, Philly, DC, Indy and those are just the ones I know of the top of my head.

How many Big East cities does Wichita fly direct to? I really don't know but I doubt it's many...

Non-Stop, 1. The same as Omaha.

One Stop, 8. The same as Omaha.

Wichita State flies Charter to all away games except Missouri State. Even that changes next year.

Doesn't many of the Big East teams fly Charter also?

Omaha flies to 5 Big East cities non-stop: Chicago, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Newark (probably could count for St. John's and Seton Hall) and Washington DC.

As far as charter, true, I think most basketball teams will fly charter. However, the other team sports will probably fly commercial which is where this comes into play...

Yes, Newark can count for St. John's as well. It's the best way to fly in or out of NYC.
