How many people show up in total for a May graduation these days? Would we need the upper deck? I would not want to have any elderly walking that climb in the stands or the equally fearsome descent.

Are these posts about the use of BFS and graduation nervous chatter as we wait to hear from our proactive and able admin? Something needs to happen quickly because these conversations are boring. (I guess I could quit reading them). On a better note, anybody sighted OCain and Birdsong working on mechanics in the burg this summer? How many of our players are squatting 600 or benching 400? How about that new search for a swimming coach? something sports related needs to come along- anything.

It's been a slooooow couple of months for this board--I agree. Can we just start talking about Danielle Erb as a Hawaiian Tropics model? I hope everyone has voted on facebook.....

There are approximately 3500 graduates and another 15,000 family/friends who attend...but those are rough estimates from a couple years ago.

The lower sections of BFS and the new endzone would probably handle the crowd...but there are elevators and ADA seating areas for grandma if she wanted to sit in the upper deck. BFS isn't exactly UD's stadium...although their setup seems to work fine for the aged. 03-wink

If they did I hope they'd look the other way...coaches working with athletes during the summer would be a major NCAA violation.

I thought that they had changed that rule. Is it the same for basketball? At least I got some sports talk back going!

We need to pass more in the offseason!

There, fixed it for you.

what will MM do with the scholarships vacated by the two players who went bonehead last week? I assume that the scholarships are now open and able to be used? Someone who knows something tell us, or at least speculate.

Actually, good topic of debate! Obviously those positions need to be filled and I'm sure there are a few juco/FBS transfers that are looking for a home. It would be nice to get another big/ugly for the O-line now that Lane is out the season.

Back in 2009 my ceremony was there along with a few other schools. I was in Media arts and Design.

SMAD is part of the CAL...and as previously shared, the CAL appears to have claims on the Quad.

The College of Business may have thier ceremony in BFS since its close, but there will no longer be a main ceremony. They have even gone to splitting the grad days on Fri and Sat to help aleveate the numbers of people on campus for those days. It cost around 20K for the hard covers to put over the turf for chairs to sit on so it wont damage the turf. With new turf just installed they may even be gun shy on even having the COB ceremony there.

89 you keep repeating that the main ceremony won't be held in BFS. This doesn't jive with current info I've received. I've asked you to PM me to share who your sources are and so we can continue this discussion offline without boring others with this OT talk.

By the way, 20k is a drop in the bucket when dealing with an event like Spring commencement, and wouldn't deter the use of a particular venue.

You realize that they had a ceremony there this spring, right? The College of Health and Behavioral Studies held their ceremony there. There was nothing put over the turf. Does installation of the new turf change all that?

It's in BFS in 2014. My daughter is in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies. She confirmed it was there in 2013 as well.
