Non-BCS Power Rankings
1. Notre Dame
2. Northern Illinois
3. Boise State
4. BYU
5. Fresno
6. Toledo
7. Tulsa

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/NonB...kings.html

2. Northern Illinois: The Huskies continue to be led by Jordan Lynch, a dual-threat quarterback who should have received even more pub than he did in 2012. NIU will have a chance to show its staying power when it faces Big Ten foes Purdue and Iowa this fall. Even without former head coach Dave Doeren, this team is the class of the MAC.

Sweet. This years team has a lot to live up too, which is good. I'd like to see this era of rediculous quarterbacks end strong for the Huskies. Who knows maybe one of these other guys is waiting to throw for 5000 yards.

It'll be very interesting to see how our program evolves after the Harnish Lynch era is over. It's like having MJ and then MJ on roids. Lets hope we can recruit some top MAC level/low-mid level B1G talent don't turn into the 99-03 Bulls....

Yes the next two seasons will be a pretty big backward step for NIU, the key is to keep these declines confined to 2 years instead of 5 years or more, that's what successful programs do and lets hope NIU will be back on top of the MAC by 2016

This is shaping up to be the year of the senior QB in the MAC. In the west only cmu and emu have non senior starting qb's. Not getting ahead of ourselves here but that makes 2014, from a qb perspective, anyones ballgame. We don't rebuild we reload.

I never really thought of Notre Dame as being non-BCS. They just played in the National Championship Game. I know they are Independant, but they are treated more like a conference of one.

It's like referring to USC as a directional school.

We can't have too big a backwards step...no more 2-3 win seasons.

Unless such seasons also include 8 more wins!

??? What the hell does that mean? Is this MD being Mr. Gloom & Doom again? We don't know WHAT is going to happen in the future and neither do you. We thought we might be hurting once Chandler left...and lo & behold we were fine! Who knows...we may not take any backward steps AT ALL!!!
I just posted about that #itch Shelley Vinegar & re-read her insults to HuskieBob so I am in a wicked a%$-kicking mood and I have no tolerance for gloom & doom . Try to be a little more optimistic huh MD? Please? 05-mafia

This writer needs to do his homework. Notre Dame IS part of the BCS.

So, we're #1! 02-13-banana

A step back is all relative, its in comparison to the 3 years before it, in what are hopefully 3 straight MAC championships. I was being anti gloom and doom by saying NIU should minimize their down period. It is inevitable in college football unless your Alabama or Ohio State and can pay for players, the natural ups and downs of recruiting cycles says you have to take a few years in every 6 to build up again. I am confident NIU does things the right way and wont be down long. Too bad our basketball team is on the 17 year rebuilding plan grrrr.

Well that is great news for next year.

Technically, all 1A schools are BCS, so the writer is doubly wrong. But, ND is an AQ school, so we are #1 in non-AQ.

You are correct sir. But, Notre Dame is included with the "Big 5" conferences in BCS bowl and playoff decisions and deliberations.
