2014 Starting QB
I know the spring game/huskie bowl were both awhile back, but I am curious as to who everyone thinks will be NIU's starting QB after Lynch graduates/gets drafted as a fullback.

RE: 2014 Starting QB
I have been going to practices since like 2005, and Hare was hands down the best QB I've seen. Doesn't mean it will translate, but I'm excited about him.

Hare.
Of the 3 we have available this year, he seems to be best passer. If the last 3 years have taught us anything, you need to have a good passing attack to have any shot at winning the MAC.

I chose Hare. I read in the Daily Chronicle that Matt Williams has decided to play both football and baseball going forward. If that's the case I can't see have developing into the starting QB.

I wonder if a move to WR in his future?

Not sure I agree with the general thought of this. Lynch's arm is questionable at best, but the system we run helped him post some great passing numbers last year. Maybe NIU feels like they can sacrifice arm for some legs, in which case McIntosh would probably have the best shot.

I've only seen Hare in the Huskie Bowl, how are his running abilities?

I don't think there is one morsel of a doubt that Lynch has an exceptional arm, much stronger than Harnish. Any shortcomings in his passing game are mainly due to him not playing QB for awhile and maybe not make correct reads during his first year. There is no questioning his arm strength though.

I will have a better idea who will be QB next year when I find out who out backup QB is this year. I do think it will be someone already on the roster, not a new freshman.

That's wonderful, he can throw the ball far. His accuracy blows.

Which was obvious during the Orange Bowl. The pressure of the game and the FSU D speed showed his accuracy for what it really is. Then again it was his first time playing a team of that caliber and a BCS game.

It wasn't just a Florida State issue. He had -1 yards passing against Iowa in the 2nd half.

That was also his first start since high school. Lets hope the footwork he has been working on pays off and he can kick some butt against Iowa and Purdue.

His accuracy doesn't blow. He had a bad game in the OB. Big deal.
His completion % was 60.2% last year, but if you don't count the game against the #2 defense in the country (which few Huskie QBs have had to play against) it was 62.9%, which is better than Harnish's senior year, and better than Harnish's career average. If his accuracy was that bad he also would have had more interceptions. He also was playing behind 5 new linemen.

His completion percentage is a product of the offense he plays in. He's a great great player, but if you think he has an accurate arm, I'm not sure what to tell you.

Lynch's numbers (%, yards, TDs, INTs) are very similar to Harnish's senior year. Are you saying that Harnish was also inaccurate?

No, I think Harnish was a much better passer than Lynch.
