Smack
Things are getting out of hand here a bit. There seem to be certain posters that are intent on hijacking threads, particularly with non-stop EMU bashing. Two things are going to happen:

1) Threads like that will be promptly moved to the smack board or closed.
2) Repeat offenders who only troll will be issued warnings and progressive moderation will take place if needed.

Let's behave. We can disagree, after all, that is part of what keeps a board active. But turning every discussion that descends into continual bashing serves no purpose.

Thanks -

Doc

RE: Smack
Any chance you can offer a definition on how this board defines "trolling?"

Interestingly enough, this post would constitute trolling on many internet message boards.

However, I am not sure what standard is used here on these boards by moderators such as DocBluez.

RE: Smack
Personally, I consider trolling to be repeated lightweight flaming or baiting other posters. As Doc said, there are some on here who take any mention of EMU as an opportunity to trash them. Some are more subtle than others, but they're all trolling, as far as I'm concerned.

Trolling, flaming, etc. are a little like obscenity: I know it when I see it.

I use the following guidelines:

If a negative statement (e.g., EMU hasn't been to a bowl in 25 years) which is true, but the statement in couched in terms which over some balance and does not appear to be negative for the sake of being negative.

"For example, EMU hasn't had recent success in football (except 2011), but they are hardly alone among MAC teams in that regard. UB has struggled a lot before their breakout season. Kent struggled badly before their breakout season last year.

It is not good for the conference to have the same team(s) consistently under perform the conference as a whole. Hope EMU turns it around."

All mentions of EMU are trolling?

Optimist - Karl's explanation was spot on and you know that is not what he said. Enough.

I am just trying to get clarification on what issues "We can disagree" applies to.

I do not see the statement of facts as trolling, like has been mentioned above. If this board does not want certain (properly sourced) facts mentioned, I just need to know which facts so I do not fall in violations of the rules.

You started a thread noting a rules enforcement, so I posted a question regarding that enforcement you plan on carrying out. I'm just trying to get clarification... You are not so good about responding to my PM's.

It has been explained and outlined. PM me for further clarification.
Congratulations, you have now caused another thread to be locked.
