There's a WatchESPN app for Apple TV now.

There's one for ROKU and most streaming devices but a cable or SATV account is needed in order to get live action.

WatchESPN is not on Roku. It's available on Apple & Android devices and the XBox 360. http://espn.go.com/watchespn/apps

Really?? How do you load an app to Apple TV? I didn't think you could.

Thinking of the Twonky app since that is how I have watched 3.

Is Twonky just a player or do the supply feeds for online content?

The app is simply the player that can stream. There is a logo menu you can select from (ESPN, CNN, Youtube, etc...) or type the url. ESPN is part of the logo menu. The app needs to be both on your device and the ROKU. I have multiple ROKU's around the house so I can pull up what I want, select the player/TV I want, and it starts playing.

That system looks nice.

But the basketball side of the contract (ESPN, CBS, ABC) begins this coming season --- right?

Correct. Only the upcoming football season is on the old contract.

doesn't look like it. From http://proxy.espn.go.com/ncf/gameplan/ it looks like gameplan is content that you can get on ESPN3, not something that would give you ESPN3.

that's my question- if I pay for the gameplan subscription do I have to deal with the computer nonsense
