Ole Miss Spirit Committee Initiates Red Alert

Dear Alumni,

The Ole Miss Spirit Committee – made up of students, alumni, faculty, staff and community leaders – recently initiated a new campaign: Ole Miss, Red Alert. The campaign aims to increase fan participation before and at University athletic events.

One aspect of Ole Miss, Red Alert includes a request of football fans to support the team by wearing red at home football games. Red shirts, red pants, red dresses, red jackets, red hats and even red gloves (weather permitting) are encouraged.

The Oxford Chamber of Commerce also has joined the campaign and is asking Chamber members to express their loyalty to Ole Miss athletics by taking an active role in the new Ole Miss, Red Alert campaign. The city's endeavor includes decorating store fronts in red and having employees wear red on gameday weekends.

I'd like to issue a challenge to our alumni to expand the Ole Miss Red Alert campaign. In addition to wearing red at sporting events, our alumni can help create a sea of red on the Ole Miss campus as well. Be creative. Show the athletes you support Ole Miss, Red Alert. Are you ready?
