I like his optimism to say that a game between teams that finished 0-12 and 3-9 last year might have bowl implications. I assume he's talking about UAB, not USM.

I think most people are expecting UAB and USM to have similar seasons, which would be around .500. The coach at Southern Miss was a huge issue last year, and he is gone now.
