2014 UMD Game
I checked this site about one month ago and our game was not shown. Yet their other OOC games were listed. This gave me some doubt about it coming to fruition.

As you can see, our game has now be added to their schedule. Could this mean anything about our FBS aspirations? It simply could be that JB did a terrific job and they are bound unless they pay a very large fee and the Big 10 is allowing it to take place.

The MD game has been on the schedule for a few years. I think we go back to Duke or UNC in 2015.

If it ends up being UNC, we have played them 3 times on a 4 year rotating basis. I'd rather see Duke if I had to pick between the two.
Why are we not trying to contact Wake Forest or North Carolina State? Tennessee? Vanderbilt? Kentucky? Any of the other bordering state BCS teams.

I found something interesting just now. We only have the MD game listed as our future OCC. That's a definite change. When I checked the link in your post last year, we were slotted to play Duke for sure in either 2015 or 2016. I think we had UNC or another ACC school. Using logic only, it would seem that JMU may be making room on the 2015 schedule.

Seriously. Why are we playing the same ACC teams? Is it because they are the only ones willing to put us on their schedule and pay out?

RE: 2014 UMD Game
We've had a contract for a few years, however, the Big 10 is forcing all conference schools to not play FCS games. Big 10 new rules.

The site provided absolutely did not have our game on it until sometime within the last few days or maybe two or three weeks. It could have been there long ago and they took it down with the uncertainty of being allowed to play the game by the Big 10. But by it being there now, only one of two things have happened, we have told them that we will be transitioning to FBS or the Big 10 has given permission to go through with it.

I would say it has more to do with where they are located and not so much the "who".
Regardless... all are relatively close.

I have no doubt that State and Tennessee would play. Probably Vandy as well. But Wake and Kentucky will be difficult until we are FBS and then those two as well as Vandy would be prime candidates to have a home and home deal and I believe could be accomplished.

I'm not sure what you mean here. I just checked the JMU schedule on jmusports.com and it looks just as I remember it for the future years. Nothing new added and nothing taken away.
What is new is you revealing that you have heard we're talking to UNC or Duke for 2015. That is new news to me.

We had an FBS game for 2015 based on my recollection and possibly one in 2016. I know we had a return game at Duke. I just don't recall if it was 2015 or 2016. We also had a return date with VA Tech in 2017 I believe.

I knew they announced. A better question would have been when does it take effect? Article says 2016. And that it would be gradual. U may be reading too much into it.

RE: 2014 UMD Game
All I'm trying to say is that this game has been in doubt since UMD joined the Big 10. So much so, that until very recently, they refused to put it on their schedule. We have had it on ours, but they did not have it on theirs.

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that our contract with Duke was for that one game only that we played several years ago. As well as, our contract with UNC was over after our last game with them. Nothing else has been agreed upon with either of these two schools.

Meh. Maybe. I don't know. Maybe the contract was too costly to pay off so they firmed it up on the schedule. As far as jmu was concerned it they were always plaing it. That's why it appeared on our schedule and not theirs.

No worry, I'm old, can't hear, can't see, rarely get asked by a beautiful blonde to swim in the buff any more, which all lead to my grammatical errors.
