Anybody knows who will be on the committee to choose the next AD? I hope there will be some X-players on the committee.

Would we not want Professor X? That way he can read minds and ensure we have the right candidate...

I think the composition of the committee/process matters a lot less than the overall support given to Rice Athletics going forward, both from the BOT and alumni.

Having a clear vision articulated at the outside that gets buy-in (literally and figuratively) from the above are most important.

That's probably true. However, the process of the selection and the results of it are both signals of how strong that support is and influences on how strong that support will be going forward.
