Carson Newman sponsoring a Sprint Cup car at Bristol
I have to admit, it would be kinda cool to see ETSU on a race car, there's a few teams are short on sponsorship dollars this year.
Perhaps something to do with 250 dollars for the Food City 250? Would look good on Trevor Bayne's ride and you can get into Nationwide sponsorships relatively cheap.
Nice gesture by Carson Newman and Bob Jenkins both on this one. Hopefully they'll pay the tire bill for Wise and he can do more than start and park.

Unless Bob is doing a favor for Carson-Newman, it cost a lot more than 250 dollars to sponsor a Sprint Cup car. When I used to race go carts all over the southeast I would ask for 250 dollars from potential sponsors. 500K to 2M is the going rate for an associate sponsorship that gets your name on the rear quarter panels or the rear deck lid.

I do agree that an ETSU NASCAR would look awesome and I would probably be the first to order the diecast car that would come out afterwards.

The 250 at the 250 speaks more of a paint scheme thing. Getting your name on a Cup car is high, but it's a one race deal it's not as bad for a Nationwide car, and definitely less on a truck.
I'd focus more on getting the sheet metal off the car, how badass would a race used hood with the ETSU buc head look in your garage?

I personally think it would be a huge waste of money, and i would be very upset if i were a student and my tuition money went to sponsoring a race car.

An awful lot of schools are toying with it. 150,000 people on track seeing your name plus a substantial level of viewers on television.
You're trying to grow something and nothing else seems to be working, it's probably time to think outside of the box of pool parties and casino night at the Millenium Centre to reach the everyday fan. Not saying ETSU ever would it, but it would be kind of neat.

ETSU is growing, very quickly over the last 3-4 years. Too quickly in many people's opinions.

Every school in Tennessee has grown since the economy tanked, that's David Collins Economics 101 (for anyone whoever went to "UCLA"), the problem is alumni giving is not grown. It's amazing how many times a day I'll see current students and ETSU alumni fed up and annoyed with:
1. Graduation office
2. Financial aid
3. Registration
4. Campus police
5. Housing
6. Business office
I know it's a normal thing, but when people have legit complaints about these things, poor advising, classes not transferring in credit for credit as promised from Northeast State, yea, it pisses people off to the point they just want to get out and never see the place again. ETSU's growth chart lags behind every other TBR school, and that's sad if people don't want ETSU to grow, more students, more alumni, more potential giving, more people talking about what a great place ETSU really is.
And as far as alumni giving, ESPECIALLY in athletics, it needs to grow a ton or perhaps you haven't noticed the Bucs needs for a football stadium, outdoor track, pressbox at the softball field, plumbing in the concessions at Thomas Stadium, and oh yea, a basketball arena.
I'd like to see something crazy to get people's attention. The Torbush hire doesn't seem to excite people.

Registration, Financial Aid, and Graduation Office problems all relates to the incredible growth without an increase in faculty and staff to deal with the growth. So instead of spending the money to increase course offerings, financial aid and graduation office staff, lets spend it on the hood of a NASCAR event which will not increase enrollment enough to pay for itself.

The winch in the Graduation office has been there far too long. Financial Aid issues haven't changed either. The people in those offices are rude, usually condescending and lazy.
The business office workers remind me of TDOT. One person working, 6 others drinking coffee, talking on their personal phones or arbitrarily trying to look busy when they're not. ETSU didn't have incredible growth when I was there, and all the things mentioned are things I dealt with. Classes that were supposed to be guaranteed by state law I had to fight to get transferred in with my associates degree. That's still going on based on Facebook posts I see almost daily from current students.
They don't need more people, they need the ones they've got to do their damn jobs.

I know that the University of Alabama has sponsored a car at Talladega for like the past four or five years. I know they probably have the money to waste unlike ETSU, there has to be a pretty decent return as far as exposure for them to do it.

BucLover - the hood off the car could be auctioned off to raise money for scholarships or something? Sounds like a good idea to me if that could happen.

Why in the hell does the University of Alabama need more exposure? I'd think a boat load of National Championships would give them all of the exposure they need. Personally, I think advertising on a car is a waste of money. TV ratings continue to tank and if your not the lead dog you get no television exposure. When was the last time you watched a race and saw Joe Nemechek on TV for any any length of time? If you want to market your school then use succesful intercollegiate athletic programs.

Actually Aaron's decided to paint the car like that. I'm not sure Alabama paid anything for it. Next week that car will be painted in Louisville colors for the Kentucky race. I think it's just Aaron's way of trying to sell product and diecasts.

Have Eric McClure a driver who lives just up the road and drives every week in the Nationwide series run a ETSU Football 2015 painst scheme at Bristol in the fall?
