Pitt's 2014 schedule is going to be meh...
We'll get all the coastal schools, Syracuse and BC. BC is clearly not as sexy of a school as FSU, but it will be cool to play BC again after such a long hiatus. But the real issue is that there is nothing exciting to look forward to in OOC. Iowa will be the top OOC school this year, but with their recent struggles I'm not expecting anything glamorous. FIU, Akron and Delaware are nothing to write home about.
Bottom line to me. A slight drop off from an interest standpoint since BC replaces FSU on the schedule for the conference schedule. But the OOC schedule is significantly worse than last year's schedule, so it will be a noticeable drop in quality next year.
But next year may be a great year for Chryst to build momentum for the program. I'm expecting 7-5 or 6-6 for this season since Pitt is suffering under what is equivalent to NCAA scholarship sanctions due to the FUBAR'd coaching fiascos. In conclusion, more boring but will be very much needed for Pitt football as it continues to rebuild.

Scheduling is so unpredictable. For all we know Iowa could be a top 10 team next year. I highly doubt it. I like to see how we do this upcoming season and then worry bout 14 later.

Right there with you Joey. Even going into a season it can be difficult. The win over VT last year looked great early on but they weren't as good as originally thought (even though it still was a 'good' win - especially at that time for the program). You just never know.

I know you guys are wondering why am I looking at 2014 when we haven't even started the 2013 season yet. Bottom line is this year's schedule is pretty solid. I don't have very high expectations for this season due to the transition; however, the stability in the coaching ranks should result in solid gains vs last year - but the record probably won't show it due to the stiffer competition this year. Also, the team is still short on scholarships as it transitions into Chryst's vision of what a CFB should look like.

FIU, Akron, and Delaware?!? Really?!? How'd that happen?
Cheers,

2 of those is OK (not good, just OK); all 3 in one season is unacceptable.

Originally, Pitt had Notre Dame, Iowa, FIU and Delaware OOC. ND went away due to the ACC agreement, so we're stuck with this alternative schedule.
