Babcock gets extension
Whit is on board until 2020. I think he has done pretty well so far. Although I'm not happy with the conference realignment, I don't think the poor position UC is in, was Whit's fault. Secondly, I'm very happy about the re-establishing the scholarships for many sports that Mike Thomas cut back on including baseball, swimming, diving, soccer and track and field. Overall, I'd give Whit a solid B. He gets us into the Big 12, we'll be all set, grade goes to A+.

I am not in a position to judge how well he has done. However, I think that Whit is far more approachable than his predecessor was and does a far better job of listening.

Absolutely more approachable. I was in Cincinnati for work last week waiting at Montgomery Inn for my car and Whit Pulled up in a Tahoe I believe. I was wearing a UC polo and he came over and shook hands and I had a brief conversation with him. Whit just seems like nice guy overall and he has impressed me with his coaching hires thus far.

Done a good job with what he has to work with. I have been impressed.

However, with this conference, TV deal and crappy bowl tie in sh!t sandwich that is heading down the tracks, may not matter who the AD is.

Totally agree. Which makes it even more impressive that he got coach Tubbs here to this situation. I think he thinks more outside the box.

RE: Babcock gets extension
He deserves an extension.

1. TT hire was unbelieveable

2. Basketball scheduling with Pitt and Nebraska (no coincidence it was a former Big 12 school to which he still has ties.

Imagine what he could continue to do with BCS status... As MT headed out to ILL (BCS Bowl and the powerful Big televen) he immediately hired for their FB team... the MAC runner-up head coach... LOL, he couldn't even get the champion coach...

I'd really like to see UC address their media show on FoxSports Ohio... it is not near BCS level, when compared to those programs to which we aspire.

I think Babcock is trying as much as possible with the tools given to him. If opportunity calls, as in new conference I think he will be first in line to take that spot.

I concur. He was dealt a tough hand. The forces that created the conference mess were completely beyond his control. Getting Tommy Tuberville to Cincinnati was a master stroke. Moving the Nippert renovation from years of idle talk to reality will secure a long-term revenue stream for athletics and build the case for a power five affiliation sooner or later. Renewing Mick and hiring a rising star for baseball; all fine moves.

Agreed with this and all of the above. Given the reality that Cincinnati is relegated to the AAC for the near future, Babcock has made extraordinary strides to ensure that across the board Bearcats athletics will perform at a high level. He seems to view the move to the AAC not as a negative, but as an opportunity for Cincinnati to showcase itself above the rest of the conference and the non-Power 5 schools. I can't help but support him in doing so.

Think he's done a fantastic job given the hand he's been dealt. Hope we can keep him around a while and he can progress us into a better conf situation before too long.
